Having been down on my luck a while back i had to part with a large portion of my gear:-({|= Anyways, having owned previously at various times MIK, Elitist and 65 JL RI Casino's im now back in the market for another. Ive spotted a deal on a New Elitist Casino in either colour (which i know is a great guitar) but for similar cash i could buy both of the new Indonesian made IBJL's (one of each colour). Whats a boy to do? Im a little put off by the newer Chineese Epiphone offerings - a recent look at the Limited edition 1959 LP ended in disapointment with the finish, which i returned. I've only played a few, and bought my elitist sight unseen, but it's a GREAT guitar. Others I played, I think at a Guitar Center store and Chinese I believe, didn't measure up to the elitist sonically. If you can get two IBJLs for about $1500 USD you've got a good deal going, but personally I'm just so happy with the elitist, I wouldn't trade it for two Casinos of any persuasion (except 60's Kalamazoos!) Also it's nice to have different looking guitars, but assuming the IBJLs sound the same, that's more GAS alleviation than expanding your sonic arsenal. GibsonWarrior Posted January 18, 2010 Author Share Posted January 18, 2010 Good point teegar, i forgot to mention i wouldnt be able to play or see either the Elitist or IBJL Casinos prior to purchase, though both could be returned under the exchange policies. I know what to expect from the Elitist as ive had one before, and no i dont need two IBJL's though one of each colour would be nice from a collactability point of view, it wouldnt expand my sonic arsenal so much. [/quote'] If it was me, I'd buy the Elitist. They are professional-grade guitars. Assuming you want a Casino to play rather than just look at, I'd rather have a really, really nice instrument to play and caress, than two nice, but virtually identical instruments (I'm unaware of the color influencing the tone, but those self-acclaimed "tone gurus" might be able to hear a difference ) I vote for the Elitist.
