Post Your Epiphone

Recommended Posts

Brian, I was surprised to see only three Genesis, as I was under the impression you had more of them than that. Regarding them, I see that two have headstock binding and square fretmarkers while the third has less binding and only dots for fretmarkers. Were there different levels available (similar to a Standard v. Custom Les Paul) or are the differences from different eras of the guitar?

Also, the two single pup guitars in front, is the first (closest to center) a Junior and the one to the right of that a modified formerly two pup guitar? They don't look the same size and the knob placement is different.

Finally, as I am completely lost with identifying semi's and hollow bodies, is that a Riviera on the far left? If it is, I am getting better at identifying them. When Max posted a pic of his, I was very confused as his sig had a Dot, but not Rivi, and I thought it might be a Rivi.

If it is a Rivi, I think I have located the next guitar I need to get (as I have been informed that I should get a semi or hollow body to help round out my "collection").

Unless of course, I can get Sledge's Wildcat before he sells it to someone else!

I only have four, one of them is gutted, waiting for me to get my act together and finish refinishing and modding it. I did have it dressed up at one point to see if it would work. In some previous photo's you've seen, there were five - my buddy's Deluxe added in for historical accuracy of the three models issued. Actually, I'd need a Genesis bass and the low-end "The Genesis" which was offered in the last price list in 1980. I have no idea what that one even looks like, never seen one or even a photo.

Also' date=' the two single pup guitars in front, is the first (closest to center) a Junior and the one to the right of that a modified formerly two pup guitar? They don't look the same size and the knob placement is different.[/quote']

One's the $78 GC "Black Friday Special" Jr. that you've seen before with the P94 and Leo Quan bridge. The other is a bone-stock set-neck '57 Reissue Jr. that I just got last week (from a guy in Boston strangely enough). It is a great guitar.

Finally' date=' as I am completely lost with identifying semi's and hollow bodies, is that a Riviera on the far left? If it is, I am getting better at identifying them. When Max posted a pic of his, I was very confused as his sig had a Dot, but not Rivi, and I thought it might be a Rivi.[/quote']

It's a MIC Riviera P93 that a lot of folks on the forum have. They're still current and in stock at most of the online stores. The blonde one next to it is a completely stock Korean Riviera with the full-size Humbuckers.

I'd get Sledge's Wildkat first, you'll be hard pressed to find another like his, and the P93's are a dime a dozen.

Hurry up...

(Sledge, I get 10% for the plug right?)

Sledge's Wildcat is my guitar porn! I look at it almost every day and say . . . "when I win the lottery!"

$121 million tonight!

Sheila

Sheila, if you win $121 million, Sledge's guitar will go right to the bottom, and probably off of your list...

Hi all, new member.

Been playing Epiphones for many years, here are my current line up:

1989 Terada Casino. 1966 Crestwood Custom, 2006 Riviera, 2006 Riviera Yamano Custom Etd

Ep4.jpg

Sorry for the crap picture, it does not do them justice, especially the grain on the Crestwood, I'll get my camera back on the weekend and take some better ones.

Hey sg fan I like your LP Special GT. Are the pups as hot as the write ups say about this axe? They are suppose to be Epi's version of Gibby's 496R/500T I think. Correct me if I am wrong.

Thanx man, you are right, they are supposed to be the hottest pups you can get from epiphone. Other than the bolt-on neck, it rules!

How do you like the 500T pups I have one on my V and love it.

The 500t kicks arse! I took it to GC the other day and plugged into a Valveking half stack and did a comparison with a Gibson faded sg...the Epi won.

You'll have to excuse the Fender that snuck in there (though I think you'll agree it's not a bad looker) but here are my Epiphones. From left to right. my 2009 MIC Casino. Absolutely perfectly crafted this one and a joy to play. Then my 2006 Les Paul Standard Plus. Also immaculately crafted and finished. The rosewood on the fingerboard is especially beautiful. I love everything about this guitar. Has Seymour Duncan Alnico Pro II pickups fitted. And to the far right is my 2006 G400 SG. Completely stock apart from the custom made large pickguard, and again, faultlessly finished and constructed.

It's the Kula Shaker big boss. I said that because of the picture of your avatar. It was his actual guitar, which was sold on a UK Web guitar store a year ago or so, and I woke myself up too late on this one. [tongue]

Nice score anyway, they're freaking rare birds.

Crispian Mills Ex Crestwood

Here are my current Epis.

Obviously a Korina G400 I've had for around 7 years.

The next one might be considered sacrilege- it's a Peerless Songbird acquired about 3 months ago. I tried it, liked it and I got a good deal on it! Apologies yo all you purists![tongue]

Previously owned a 1986 (or thereabouts) cherry red Casino (gorgeous guitar, why on earth I sold it I'll never know) and late 80's Natural Sheraton. Awful.

Currently GASsing for a Jack Casady Sig Bass

As usual, I'm quite late to the party. Nevertheless, I thought I'd add some of my own "guitar porn" to the thread. You guys all have such great guitars ... and your photogtraphic skills put mine to shame ... but here goes:

First, my workhorse Les Paul Ultra ... geeze this is a difficult guitar to photograph ...

Sany0091.jpgSany0086.jpg

Next up, my Les Paul and SG Prophecy GX ...

Sany0082.jpgSANY0083.jpgSany0001.jpgSany0004.jpg

The classiest guitar I own ... the B.B.King Lucille ...

Sany0112.jpg

I guess this is the rarest one I own (at least until Epi re-releases it) ... the Firebird VII ...

Sany0092.jpg

Finally ... not only a looker, but great fun to play, the '58 Korina Flying V ...

Sany0116.jpgSANY0118.jpg

Congrats to all of you for having such amazing instruments to enjoy!

Jim
