jammybstard
Any Idea where I can get a Truss Rod Cover with the standard Epiphone € logo instead of the Valensi? I have no great love for the Strokes.
jammybstard
Here http://www.rosetti.co.uk/Browse/Spares/Epiphone/Truss-Rod-Covers/Page5 Peter Good price; does the dimensions 24x51mm refer to the outside edges or the spacing of the screw holes? charlie brown
If I were you, I'd keep the SG...and just buy a Sheraton, or Riviera, outright. They're quite different sounding guitars, and the weight is different, too. You have the advantage (at this time) of being able to get a new (apparently) reissue, of the Riviera, with mini-humbuckers, frequensator tailpiece, and correct inlay, in the headstock. The mini's have a nice tone, all their own...which is a kind of blend of P-90 (single coil) edge, and Humbucker warmth and sustain. The Sheraton will (now) only come with full size humbuckers...UNLESS you can find a AIUSA or "Elitist" Sheraton, which both have the mini-humbucker's as well. As to "harsh overtones" with the frequensator tailpiece...Maybe?! But, you can always remove it, and replace it with a standard trapeze tailpiece (as on the Casino), or even a Bigsby Vibrato tailpiece, without any major mods. So, I wouldn't worry (too much) about that. But, again...I'd keep the SG, and just add the semi-hollowbody, as an additional tone monster, instead of replacing your SG. IF...you can manage it, that is. Cheers, CB
jammybstard
CB, are you the one on my left shoulder with the horns and the Bigsby equipt trident? I never liked the look of the mini Humbuckers they just look wrong to me, HBs should be big. The build and finish on this Valensi eddition is fantastic, I love the neck and the P94s, I wont be getting rid of it in a hurry. The P94s can, I assume, be directly swapped out with standard Humbuckers in the future if I fancy which is a nice option to have. As for the SG, I'll see if I play it much in the near future before I make up my mind, but there's no point in keeping it kicking around If I'm not going to play it. There's a bit of a mistry surrounding the Valensi I cant find any information on wich factory it built in, it has one of the new number only serial numbers 0812220175 but I can't find any info on it on the web; do Epiphone keep these things secret for reason?
