Hungrycat
Does anybody know whether a Fender style neck would fit into the bolt on neck pocket of an Epiphone Thunderbird? No. The T-bird neck pocket is square. Fender necks have the rounded off corners. It wouldn't take much for it to fit though...Going for a John Entwhistle Fenderbird? RobinTheHood
I think the scale might be different too. Not sure how that would intonate without bridge modifications.
Gaolee
Thinking about it. I'm used to a Gibson EB-2 with a short scale, so I was thinking about putting a Warmoth short scale jazz neck on the Thunderbird body. The short scale would help with neck dive, even with the relocated strap button. It would be fairly unique if I can figure out how to do it. The neck is expensive, so I'm trying to find as much information as I can before deciding to do it.

Messing with intonation doesn't faze me in the least. The width of the neck isn't an issue, either, since Warmoth makes various widths. If nothing else, it will be an interesting project if I can figure it out enough to go ahead with it. For what is is worth, my brother's jazz is about a 34" scale and so is the T-Bird. The old Gibson is about a 30" scale.
