Can anyone id this Japanese made guitar? NOW THANKS

Recommended Posts

Lovely looking guitar. Musik-Schmidt (as I'm guessing you know), was the dealer not the manufacturer they're still in business in Germany today.

Never heard of Allround guitars, and a Google search turns up nothing.

Have you thought of sending the photos to a specialist in Japanese guitars for an opinion?

Such as: http://www.guitarsjapan.com/index.html

If you do find out the answer please post it at this forum, I'd be fascinated to know!

I've no idea what this is. None of the parts look familiar, except the pickup selector switch looks exactly like the one on my EA250; I tried googling "two bolt neck" which I thought might narrow it down; "allround guitar" doesn't help; tried images too. How much is the seller asking?

I had a feeling Lord S. wouldn't be able to resist a challenge! [confused]

Ha! You're too kind Vomer...But I'm falling down on the job these days (I still haven't found the answer to that 1996 Epiphone poster question from a few days back which someone posted in the lounge).

As regards obscure Japanese guitars...

Everyone presumes that information is best found online these days...but I still spend a huge amount of my working day dealing with print sources.

I reckon that the answer is probably to be found in an encyclopedia like this:

...but my catalog tells me there isn't a copy in any library outside Japan, unfortunately.

YOU' date=' TOO!?! [biggrin I must have spent at least five or six hours on that already! Driving me nuts! One would think that being the EPIPHONE forum that someone from Epiphone would help us out with that!

BTW, Sweet looking guitar GMF! No clue what it is, sorry.

Your guitar seems to be "made in germany"

made in the 60s

Do a google search for "hopf allround" and you get some answers

There was one on Austria-ebay' date=' sold for under 500EURO

WOW

Great find thanks so much

Any idea what a good offer should be

Needs maybe $100-$150 to make it right

I should add that I don't want to pay too much however the owner is a brother of a friend so I don't wish to make an insulting low offer either

Wonder where the Hopf prestige sits with respect to other guitars of the same era?

Since the Allround has no markings does it represent the lower end of Hopfs?

Some say that the Allround was a Glassl design - he designed some other higher end Hopfs.

I have tried to register there but it keeps saying I did not ID the code correctly

Frustrating - seems to be a lot of recent Hopf talk

You probably know this, but if you've been to a page with one of those codes on it and then you use the back button on your browser to go back to that page it dosen't refresh the image properly. It's caught me out a few times before; it always pays to Refresh/reload the page before you start filling in the boxes. I just registered there no problem. Also they might have been having problems yesterday, who knows.
