Gibson Parts on Epiphone

Recommended Posts

The only things I upgraded on mine were the pups and tuners

(see signature). I just did a 5 hour jam session last nite thru a

Peavey VK-112 Valve king (50W) with another git player, bassist,

and our own Tgifintx on drums! Great time!

ZERO complaints regarding the gits. I snagged pups and tuners

from ebay at a cost of $100 a SET for the pups, and $30 a set

for tuners... Really no need to replace EVERYthing - but, it's a personal choice!!!!

Oh yeah' date=' I should mention that I got a set of chrome-covered Gibson humbuckers off Craiglist last year for $90...

So maybe it can be done economically...[/quote']

I did swap my pickups for Gibson 490R/498T chrome- covered.

My pickups swich start to make a scratchy sound as i swich from bridge to neck. Also where i rest my hand on the bridge the nickel color start to wear-off.

Those are mostly the parts i would upgrade. Because sound wise im happy with it now.

Guitarfetish! The fact that they aren't "real" Gibson parts is

purely psychological!!! (By "Guitarfetish", I mean the WEBSITE! Ahem...).

I purchase from them frequently, love the Bridges as they are 9/16" across

instead of 7/16" as the tune-o-matics are. Have modded a couple of gits

with them, no problems yet - 8 months ago.

Animalfarm.......... do GFS have a bridge to replace the Samick Sheraton bridge?

Very possible, but I'm not familiar with the sheraton bridge

options, just the "locktone tune-o-matic" description in the

specs. I'll post the link. The pix in your signature seem to show

two styles based on what I see on your guitars.

Most critical will (of course) will be the hole-to-hole center

spacing, inches or mm. Check yours against what you see...

Where do you measure to take a post spacing?

1) centre to centre on the posts

2) the innermost point of each post

3) the outermost point of each post

ps. the floating ABR bridge on my Joe Pass in my signature is a GFS bridge also the bridges on my two Sherris 1987 (E-by-G) and 1989 seem identical close up...

Center-to-center' date=' and measure diameter of hole.

[/quote']

Off the top of my head - The ABR-style bridges have a SMALL post

coming up thru the bridge, the "Tune-o-matic"-style has a much larger

post hole (see pics on guitarfetish site, you can SEE the different style).

The GF bridges I've purchased just drop right in, and YES, please VERIFY

the post spacing (center-to-center) and post SIZE!
