bluesstringer
These threads have always driven me crazy. Best at what ? style, genre, type of guitar, overall ability, speed, taste, choice of collaborators, live, recorded, duration, recorded sales, frontman or sideman, popularity ? Best is way too subjective and open to too many variables. A few of my faves: Blues - Clapton, Beck, Guy, King (all of 'em) Winter; Acoustic - McKee, Kotkee, Fahey; Rock - Hendrix, Garcia, Lennon, Harrison; George (Lowell) Southern Rock - Allman, Collins, Gaines, Rossington Sidemen - Cropper, Lofgren, Campbell; Instrumental - Atkins, Paul, Feliciano, Segovia, Gatton; Country - Paisley, Moore. Just a few, I could go all night !
bluesman345
Watched some Lenny Breau. WOW. And he's Canadian!! Yeah!!Here he is on an 8 string. Yeah' date=' Lenny Breau was a genius. A friend of mine said he used to shoot "junk' with Lenny and Fred Turner (B.T.O.) in the '60's. What a tragedy - he was found murdered and floating in a pool in L.A. in 1984. Here is a Wikipedia article about him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lenny_Breau I bought this LP in the '70's: [img']http://i574.photobucket.com/albums/ss187/bluesman345/TheVelvetTouchofLennyBreau.jpg[/img]

altair
I always get very quiet and awe-inspired when I hear these gents play: The Rosenberg Trio. Somewhere around 2:00 mark, his fret hand goes all blurry but he still sounds clean, amazing.

DizzyFingers
Alabama Jubilee Guitar Wizard It is a shame....you will not hear these guitar players in this thread on any public media anymore...The most gifted musicians in the world sit on a "shelf", while the ahem, "not so gifted" recieve all the notoriety... My two cents and Dizzy's all done... Dizzy
