Caolan96
okay guys, I need ideas on how to get the pickup selector plate off, (you know the one around the toggle switch that says rhythm and treble? I'm not sure how to go about it, as far as I know it's a rubbery cement/glue holding it on. thanks in advance. caolán.
Swoop
You can very carefully lift the edge of it with a blade, thenslip a guitar pick underneath and slowly separate the rubbery glue from the finish. At least this is what I have done in the past and it's worked well.
peeper
Dental floss. Just use it like a wire on a potters wheel. Works for pickguards as well. Just slide it over. Maybe a little naptha if its really stubborn removing the residue left over.

Caolan96
do I have to remove the switch or the little washer around it first? I couldn't get the dental floss to fit under the ring, and really don't wanna take a blade to it. what did you mean by this works with pickguards too musikron? Ricochet
Heat it up with a hairblower to soften the glue first. I use a knife as well to lift the first part. Carefull. Removing the switch is optional, I'm too lazy and just loosen the washer.
AS90
Hair dryer > finger nails > alcohol wipe to remove any glue residue
peeper
I meant like a flat top acoustic pickguard. It will also get those horrible dealer logos off your car.
