catass
Do high-quality leather guitar covers negatively affect the sound of acoustic guitars?
pohatu771
Are we talking Elvis-style leather covers? I've never used them, but I can't imagine a quarter-inch of leather on the soundboard helps the tone at all.
peeper
Yes, they do. But maybe you'll like what it does?
TommyK
These seemed to be a faddish 'bling' added during Elivs's time. That and scratch guards that covered half the real estate between neck and button end.... The modern guitar players and manufacturing industry know better as these affections of success serve only to muzzle the guitar. However, the only 'good' thing it could do is mitigate feed back if the flat top box is electrified. This is only a hypothesis. I believe Martin sells a model with a leather 'jacket'. They do look purty though.
