Fantana
Hi Guys, I'm trying to find more info on this LP Goldtop, as far as I know it's a special edition R4 model but that's all I know! I've posted on the Gibson forum and they all seem much more interested in the intonation, so I've decided to ask the guys that really know The reason I ask is that I'm having one of these built by my luthier but to my own specs and just wanted to know more about the original thanks
lpfan
That is the first time I have seen one of those. I love it, I think its very cool. But I'm a sucker for goldtops too.
Fantana
Yeah me too, I think goldtops are amazing Mine is gonna be slightly different than the one pictured, It's gonna have: - Cherry red back and neck, a nod to the Epiphone models. - Seymour Duncan Antiquity Cream Soapbar P-90, I tried hundreds of different P90's and this Alnico II one just amazed me with it's versatility and oozes mid-range bite (unless anyone has a spare '52 Gibson P90?!?!?!?) - Compensated wrap-around bridge, I want some kind of intonation on her but more importantly, I want the strings to stay in place! - Madagascar Rosewood fingerboard - 50's profile neck, the beefier the better! I just love how the lack of 'furniture' on the body makes it look so unique, and the less routing and drilling required will hopefully mean that the mahogany/maple body will resonate just that little bit more It's being made by Andy Viccars in Bletchley, Milton Keynes, you guys should check him out
