Guitar indentification, looks like a stra...............only joking!

Hi Guys,

I'm trying to find more info on this LP Goldtop, as far as I know it's a special edition R4 model but that's all I know!

I've posted on the Gibson forum and they all seem much more interested in the intonation, so I've decided to ask the guys that really know ](*,)

The reason I ask is that I'm having one of these built by my luthier but to my own specs and just wanted to know more about the original

Yeah me too, I think goldtops are amazing

Mine is gonna be slightly different than the one pictured, It's gonna have:

- Cherry red back and neck, a nod to the Epiphone models.

- Seymour Duncan Antiquity Cream Soapbar P-90, I tried hundreds of different P90's and this Alnico II one just amazed me with it's versatility and oozes mid-range bite (unless anyone has a spare '52 Gibson P90?!?!?!?)

- Compensated wrap-around bridge, I want some kind of intonation on her but more importantly, I want the strings to stay in place!

- Madagascar Rosewood fingerboard

- 50's profile neck, the beefier the better!

I just love how the lack of 'furniture' on the body makes it look so unique, and the less routing and drilling required will hopefully mean that the mahogany/maple body will resonate just that little bit more :^o

It's being made by Andy Viccars in Bletchley, Milton Keynes, you guys should check him out
