Elitist Guitar Case

Hello All,

I have purchased two Elitist Guitars. The first was an Elitist Les Paul Standard Plus, which I purchased from Musician's Friend. It however did not come with an "Elitist" case. I received a case but it didn't have a purple interior or "Elitist" silkscreened on the case.

I also purchased an Elitist Casino Guitar from a local music store, Music Villa in Bozeman, MT. It also came with a guitar case that did not have a purple interior or "Elitist" on the case. I just thought that perhaps Epiphone (Gibson) was getting cheap.

Has anyone had a similar experience or have you purchased an Elitist within the last year and what kind of case did you receive. All the online sites just say a Hardshell Case. So what's been your experience.

I have 9 Elitists (13 if you count two John Lennon USA Casinos and two McCartney texans). In two instances, I did not get the original case. Once, I purchased a blem from Muscian's Friend; the guitar was fine, but the case latches were broken, so they substitued the case, and explained that to me. The other instance was when I bought an over-run of the John Lennon Revolution Casino, which were priced and sold purposely without the repro case, which was also disclosed beforehand.

As the Elitist line winds down, I think there are not enough cases for the remaining guitars. I have shopped at Outlaw Music, and while I don't know the owner personally, he does not eem like the kind of guy who would pull any shenanigans. I've bought dozens of guitars from MF, and have never known them to split a guitar from its case, either, unless (as in the example of the blem Casino) it was disclosed or explained.

MF also known as Guitar Center almost always split the case form the guitar. They are basically wal-mart for musicians. Most of the teenagers who work there ave no clue, class, or care. It took me nine months to get the case for my Taylor GS, I bought a Warlock years ago from GC and NEVER go my case. I will never buy from them again, I'm sure that will cost the company about 34-40 thousand dollars over my life they are gonna miss out on. GC is the Devil, what do you expect?

Musician's Friend, Guitar Center, and Music 123 are all owned by the same private equity firm. I agree that you have to be careful at CG--they are known to split guitars from their cases. Some of that's understandable, as they mostly sell instruments right off the display wall, and sometimes can't locate the right case in the stockroom. Other times, it does seem they are trying to make an extra buck or make up for the discount they're offering by subbing a lesser case. MF less so, since they mostly sell boxed instruments. If you buy an instrument that comes with a case from MF, they come together in the manufacturer's sealed box. If the box has been open, MF has to sell it under one of their "used" category's and discount it, and they will disclose the situation with the case. They now even provide pictures.

The Elitist that I purchased from Musician's Friend was not a blemished or used guitar. Brand new! It was however towards the end run of the Elitist Les Paul Standard Plus run which might explain it. The guitar case from Music Villa, I'm starting to think may have gotten swapped out, at the time I didn't know this because my Elitist Les Paul came with a regular case. Thanks for the info.

Has anyone out there purchased one just recently? What case did you receive?

Guess it's all about the mighty dollar! They definitely can make an extra buck by selling you JUST the guitar and charging extra for a case, and they make more by giving you a cheap*ss case!

There doesn't seem to be much class and customer care in the business world any more...............
