atfab Posted March 2, 2010 Share Posted March 2, 2010 Based on the positive results from making a nut and saddle for my old Epi Texan 12, I decided to do the same with the $39.95, Winston, nylon string, boat oar. The neck is ok, no truss bar but the action was unplayable high above the first position. The nut was cut too low and the saddle was high. I found some stabilized black walnut in my knife handle supplies. This felt very much like the Tusq under the file, so I had some reasonable hope. I now have a nice action up to the 12th fret and better (not great) balance between the strings. The string are old and hopefully new ones will help, any suggestions?
