Digitech RP55 Multi Effects Pedal

Recommended Posts

Well, after 21 years of not playing, I discovered recently I only had 2 DOD pedals I bought back in the mid-80's (an OD and a Distortion). So, I bought a Behringer HB Wah pedal recently and it really sounds good.

Well, I got bit by the Pedal Bug today (slow day at work so I was able to do a lot of research) and decided I wanted a multi effects pedal.

Found a few online and GuitarCencter has the Digitech RP55 in stock. Checked out reviews and it seems like it will go great with practice.

Soooo...I called and they are holding one for me. I'll be there in like an hour. Can't wait to get home and hook it up to my new SG-310! :)

I'll post up a review this weekend.

Good times, good times...!

I haven't tried the RP55 but I have the GNX3 which is it's older big brother.

and have been really impressed with it whether using it on it's own with headphones to practice, direct into my recorder or into my amp.

Lots of patches available to d/l from the Digitech site too.

Wow!

That is SWEET! Maybe later I'll get something like that later on when I start gigging again...it's really groovy!

Well, I played around with the RP55 last night and will do some jamming in just a little while. I only had it plugged into my Fender MA-10 practice amp. Gotta say, I REALLY like the sounds it makes. Some are a little so-so, but overall, it produces some very good sounds.

I'm gonna pump it into my 32 year old Honhner 1230 amp and give it a real test. I haven't programmed sounds, yet, but there are some pre-programmed ones that are exactly what I'm looking for. I'm not too crazy about the wah wah, so the Behringer HB-01 will stay in the mix. I'm gonna compare it to my DOD OD & distortion pedals to see which offers a more "classic" sound (the pedals are about 25 years old or so).

So far, it's very easy to use and I'd definitely would recommend it for practicing. [thumbup]

Anyway, I'll jam on & give another update shortly.

Well, got my RP-55 hooked up to my "real" practice amp this weekend.

I didn't get a chance to play as much as I hoped, but I was still very impressed with it. I really like the "amp" features which models other types of amps. Sounds very good with several to choose from, so I'll hold off on a new practice amp for now.

The effects are actually good enough to gig with (light, small gigs). I'm working on creating a sound, so the storage feature will really come in handy.

Hey, for the price, and all it does, I really think it's got what it takes.
