Wierd Rattle Noise

I know this is an epiphone forum but the fender forums arent working. When I play a C5 and a D5 i get this rattle noise when i play hard on the G string. (No pun)

Can anyone help?

I'm a bit confused.

I assume you are speaking of the "chords" C5 and D5?

If so, then you shouldn't be hitting the G string at all (or you should be keeping it dampened with your finger). You play those two chords on the E and A string only, or on the A and D (or several other variations) but not on the G.

 

BTW, where is this rattle coming from?

He may be talking about the C5 and D5 chord with the root on the 5th string. Therefore his pinky,

or 4th finger, would be playing the octave C or D on the G or 3rd string. Is you problem really a

rattle or are you getting fret buzz?
