SketchyEtchy
so do you think its worth taking the pick up out? it says its got a P90 in it but i gought epi lp jr came with something else.
andrewjunior
gibby LP jrs come stock with a p90. they sound awesome. epi lp jrs (at least in the states) come stock with a pile of crap humbucker. it's up to you of course, but if you were to go for authentic les paul junior style, i'd stick with the p90. brianh
so do you think its worth taking the pick up out? it says its got a P90 in it but i gought epi lp jr came with something else. The recent bolt-neck Epi Jr.s come with a very cheap humbucker. I took it out along with the tuners which are pressed back type and don't hold tune worth a damn. The older bolt-necks had an Epi P90' date=' not sure how those sounded, but it was a more authentic look at least. All of the set-neck Jrs I've seen have an Epi P90 and Grovers, and really need nothing except maybe an orange drop cap on the tone, and some straplocks. If you're really in a spendy mood, you could put a Gibson or boutique P90 in and that's about all you can do unless you want to start routing for a neck pickup and toggle. Below are my two Jrs. The bolt-on the left has a Gibson P94 in the humbucker cavity and Gotohs added; the set neck on the right is completely stock: [img']http://i608.photobucket.com/albums/tt163/brianehuff/Twinsback.jpg[/img] Also the set necks have a beefier body:
SketchyEtchy
well i cant make it out in the pic if it is a P90 looks like and the description says it is
andrewjunior
unless it's some weird thing, that sure looks like a p90 to me. i, personally, would keep it. put in upgraded pots (if they haven't been changed in the first place). i looked at the pics in the link you posted and it looks like the tuners are great (probably close to the ones i got). here's a good thread for jr options http://forums.epiphone.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=13029
RobinTheHood
well i cant make it out in the pic if it is a P90 looks like and the description says it is I was wondering the same thing myself. So I saved the pic and boosted the brightness in Photoshop. Yep. its a P90. You can see the dog ear once the brightness is boosted.
