crust
That price is high, but there aren't too many of those instruments for sale. If it is in excellent shape, that might be an OK price. Supply and demand.
bluser12
should have been 1999-2005

I'd suggest Lollars and a Mojo harness... :- [/quote'] I am hoping to settle down but I am not like you guys that have tried so many nice guitars. Brian I am blues crazy and there are iconic guitars that I want to own and I feel will inspire my playing, I know it. I link them to blues greats so these will be the final 5 guitars I will have and stick with I promise you. Should not have to modify the Zephyr too much. These are the ICONIC 5 I want, need to own, fondle, admire, play in my home.... Epiphone Zephyr Blues Deluxe, The closest thing I could ever afford to what T Bone is playing here: Washburn J9 Washington Thinline (modified) The closest guitar I can find/afford to the thinline Zephyr John Lee Hooker is playing here My E-by-G Sheraton which is to me pure John Lee Hooker I want a Riviera which for me is pure Otis Rush and very attainable I will soon have my dream Firebird about 12 weeks I am told which is for me pure Johnny Winter There is an underlying plan to all this above is my dream team, trust me.....anything in this storage space that does not resemble the above is living on borrowed time....will soon be out of here, there have been some nice guitars in there Joe Pass, Levin 335, SG, but they are not in my long term game plan.... EDIT: Just like all you Beatles freaks with your Casinos, if only I was a Beatles fan I could have just bought a John Lennon Casino, and Paul McCartney acoustic and had done with it.... Guest
These photographs are especially for my friend Bluser12. I had a nice phone conversation with the guy I am buying the Zephyr from and he played some for me using the different variations of the 3 P90's it really sounded awesome. I am so looking forward to receiving this guitar. The collection date is Monday 19th April. But, he also sent some more photos of the Zephyr, I would like to share...... Guest
I've said things like that before' date=' and I really believed it at the time. If it doesn't work out, you can modify your approach into a 6 guitar philosophy (or 7?). We won't hold it against you. :) BTW: That tiger striping looks fantastic! [/quote'] You Devil "Old Scratch", If I was an alcoholic you would buy me whiskey...... they call people like you enablers......... go on take a line........ pick up the needle...... buy that 6th guitar..... aint going to happen Mister.........grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr[angry] [angry] Whenever, I get a bad GAS attack I am going to picture you sitting on my shoulder, holding your pointed tail and prodding me shouting "buy the MF'ing guitar", while on the other shoulder will be Ned Flanders pleading "Don't you dare, diddly do it, there are 5 in the hole". I will stick with Ned Flanders.....but then sometimes I just get confused......I am only human.....

bluser12
Magnificent guitar Joe. I see where your going with the guitars and amp you have chosen. Since you are dialing in your sound, I know you will dig deep for the blues vibe as well. You know that that soulful groove. teegar
So Joseph, letting the old Levin acoustic archtop go (sigh) - you know I love the acoustic archtops. And good for the blues, to be sure - just check out Mississippi Fred McDowell, once again from that stellar American Folk Blues Festival DVD:

And good for the blues, to be sure - just check out Mississippi Fred McDowell, once again from that stellar American Folk Blues Festival DVD: [YOUTUBE'] Hi G You could have a very good point, maybe instead of being frightened of owning a true vintage guitar because of the extremes of weather in this part of the world. Kristin and I are building a house down by the lake which will be finished in October. State of the art central heating with pipes under the soil and lake that compliment the heating system. That will enable us to keep a constant temperature, in our home when it is +38c in the summer and -38c in the winter..... Where we live for the moment and our last place are very old farm houses. Not ideal for vintage guitars (unless you subscribe to Smips philosophy..... see pampering thread) Maybe in the new house (with my slightly bigger storage space for my guitars and amps) I should take responsibility for caring for a vintage guitar. It will be better suited to enable me to do that. After listening to my new acquisition over the phone yesterday and talking to the seller who is an accomplished player and know his blues history and the looking at the youtube demonstrations of the ZBD. I can certainly dial in enough Hooker tones to forget about having to construct a Wasburn clone of a Thinline Zephyr that is becoming redundant listening to the ZBD. Also "what" can the Riviera give me tone wise that Z-B-D (Zephyr), E-B-G (Sheraton), G-F-B (Firebird) cannot cover........ Z-B-D (Zephyr), E-B-G (Sheraton), G-F-B (Firebird) are the bedrock maybe the Levin Acoustic Archtop should stay and forget about the Washburn "Clone". Also maybe instead of a Riviera (which I love aesthetically, but do not know what it will add to my tone bank).....maybe....something that has been off my radar..... "Blackie" Strat, Tele, Airline, suggestions for an alternative to the Riviera for this slot welcome, but has to give me something for blues tone wise that the 3 main players Z-B-D (Zephyr), E-B-G (Sheraton), G-F-B (Firebird) cannot give me. Come on Teegar "you" may have just saved slot 2 for the Levin acoustic, now make a suggestion for an alternative to the Riviera for slot 4 in my "Blues 5"

Love the photo of Muddy though, that look, knowing smile, with the gospel gown, wolf in sheeps clothing, thing going on...., reminds of the image I used responding to Old Scratch in this thread. That Guild is far too fancy pants for me. If you look in the photo of the Zephyr the seler sent me when I spoke on the phone to him yesterday. I asked him what his favourite blues guitar was and he said a Fender with P90's I think it is the one in the background in this photo.... he says it is an awesome guitar looks like a Jaguar or a Jazzmaster or something...
