colin23
Is it possible to get a vibration related buzz from either of the transformers? I have been over the entire amp, valves, screws, knobs and jacks, when it's at a resanably low volume it's fine but when I crank it I get a vibration related buzz. Like I said the only place I cant get inside and check is the transformers. Anymore and it's going out the window!!!
Bender 4 Life
What amp/guitar combination are you talking about? Does it do this with more than 1 guitar? Is the amp new/used ? I'm definitely not the "amp Dr." here, but the real amp guys will need a lot more info to offer a diagnosis.
m-theory
It's almost certainly something in the cabinet...baffle screws, speaker screws, chassis screws...or the screws that hold the transformers down. It doesn't take much for a vibration to appear at high volumes...just a couple of screws that aren't fully tightened down. This can be extremely difficult to pinpoint. It might be helpful to run program music rather than a guitar, so that you can hunt and peck around the cabinet easier.
colin23
I made the amp my self using the chassie and cabinet from a valve jr, so all other components where fitted by me, as far as I'm awere everything went together as it should. have you or do you know if there was any issue with vibrations from the chassie's or cabs on Vjr's? colin23
what do you mean "program music"?
m-theory
what do you mean "program music"? Play a CD player or Ipod into the amp input and play whatever music you think will trigger the noise.
jefrs
Have you got a looper? - loop the guitar whilst it makes the vibrations and play it back, or record to computer and play that back as a loop. Now you've got your hand free to poke at the amp to find the loose bits. I spent ages doing this only to find it was an item of furniture across the room.
