sewatt down or my pc again?

got a bbe crusher..

worst tin fuzz overdrive I ever heard.

makes the ds1 sound booteek.

anyone know how to make it a simple boost.. it's actually quite nice with the gain off. three band passive eq..

if I could get just a little boost out of it I'd like it a lot.

If I could get some decent sounding overdrive too, that would be a plus.

tried a couple mods on my ds1. huevos grandes the guy called them.. and it's not bad at all.

well, not as bad at all? gonna try more since I would actually use this pedal now.

also got a behringer dr600 reverb.. quite nice.. got it on a trade.

eats energizer bunny for breakfast. literally one a day so far!

soo.. godlyke has Power-All PA9B Basic Kit for 5 Pedals

and a lifetime warranty. any competition?

I now have a compressor reverb and five dist. pedals.

ha.. and none of them can outdo my vj except the reverb.

I checked it seems ok.

just no sound when it's on.

I did solder the jumper across the solder side of the board..

so maybe it's a thicker board.. and I need to pierce the holes?

I'll go make a couple of bent wires and file the ends to a point.. so I know they go through

But..

I did test continuity and ohms with the meter .. running from the leds to a nearby cap that looks like it's supposed to be connected and it read

ok.

maybe I have to put something besides a jumper across them.

Ok I removed the jumpers and put in two 200pF silver mica.

and I got sound.

it still overdrives but it's not near as sucky.

Still.. I'm going for clean.

So.. I think it has to be that my jumpers were not connecting through the holes..

just laying on top of one side..

or you have to have a cap in there.

I'm going to try to remove just one. and then, using the extra tiny leads I clipped off these, jumper it through the holes.

then, no matter what that does, I may try lower value silver micas..

maybe just jump to 47pF with at least one of them.

ok. jumper equals no sound.

tried it on just one.

going to try lower then higher value silver mica caps next.

heck I've already gotten rid of that ugly tinny top top end fizz so.. I'm ahead so far.

tried on 50pF silver mica

not quite as good I don't think as the two 200pFs..

so I'm going to assume the crappy sound was the ceramic chip cap..

and go for a higher value silver mica..

maybe just 300pF..

500pF silver mica in the first spot.

200pF silver mica in the second..

I got clean boost .. just a little bit, but certainly noticeable.. I can get the gain to 2 and it's still clean.

the dirt is much warmer than the stock crusher ever had.. even with the treble cranked..

so.. it's two 500pf silver micas and I think I'll call it a day on this one.

one last report coming up.

nope. that sucked.

still ickness on the distortion.

only a small clean boost and there's funk involved.

tried making one cap a jumper.. just clipped off the cap and connected the legs.

maybe it was the silver mica I still had in making the nasty..

so

gotta try one more attempt at using two jumpers and this time I'll have them through the holes and not over the holes.

that must have been why I had no signal.

still.. two 200pF silver micas was an improvement.

nope. total waste of time.

it just is one butt ugly pedal.

I can get to 1 on gain before it starts to break up. and it's not any kind of break up you'd ever want.

This thing has the most useless distortion sound I ever heard.. my washburns are better.

crusher. yeah. crushes all hope.

looks nice on the floor.

I just got:

washburn soloist

washburn blues ovedrive

not much to do on those so my tinkering was all done quick. got 'em better though..

I already had a behringer compresor. so I'll have to open that up one of these days.

I also got boss ds 1 at GC and have messed with it.

it sounds better by far now, but the gain past halfway is tres funky and not in a james brown sense.

the behringer reverb is new. well used. and the blue light wont stop flashing..

so we know I'll be in that one.

above mentioned BBE crusher.. just doesn't cut it.. the passive eq is pretty much worthless without some kind of boost to it.

and the boost is butt ugly distortion.

and yesterday I got a Version 1 Fulltone Fat Boost which I wont touch as it's just perfect in front of my vj or anything else I've tried.

I should go get a delay and a chorus, with all the drive pedals here.. but I was really eyeing the behrringer vt99 ..
