What Comes With A NEW Epiphone Guitar.

Epi1

Recommended Posts

Oh' date=' and while we have Epi1's attention, I would like to put in a request for an accurate reissue[/quote']

Epi 1 Epiphone has all those models that were unique to Epiphone and ICONS in the world of music.

Non more ICONIC than the Epiphone Zephyr 311TN

If you made an elitist Epiphone Zephyr 311TN with a good set of vintage minis from the mother company...I personally would pay you good money for a quality reissue of one of those, and you can throw me in a sticker and a poster like this......

Must be a lot of blues enthusiasts out there who would like an Elitist Epiphone Zephyr 311TN in their hands......

hooker.jpg

While on the question of stickers my Epiphone gear Sheraton, Zephyr Blues Deluxe, and Pacemaker amp I bought all second hand.

But I just bought a brand spanking new Gibson Firebird V..........not a sticker in sight...(other than "Case Made in Canada" on the case) [biggrin].........Thanks for visiting the forum Epi1......Give us quality for the dollar and the models we want and your profits will soar.....a lot of good guitars out there.....but where else can I find a Zephyr, Wilshire, Sheraton.......play to your strengths...

While we're bombarding Epi1 with "wish lists"........i'll go on record as saying that I would personally BURN my Telecaster (which I really like) and post it on a youtube video titled "Fenders are firewood!" if Epi. would do a "Special Run" of Korean J.L.H. Sheratons, in VSB, with Gibson NY Mini-Humbuckers & a Frequensator.......

I'd print a copy of this offer and sign it if that could make it happen!!!!!!!

Just for the record........my '07 Korean Sheraton II, is still my favorite "Blues Cannon" and it's as bone-stock as the day it was made.

Does the case candy have a possible purpose in identifying legit models vs. fakes? While we're on the subject, could Epiphone put something like a COA in with new gits or would that be too expensive/difficult/ open to forgeries?

Wouldnt the owners manual and warranty card be somewhat of a COA? If a counterfeiter is going to go through the trouble of faking an Epiphone and the inspection stickers and such, it wouldnt be too much of a stretch to forge a COA, methinks.

Oh well, if we are inundating EPI1 with requests, then I have a very simple one:

Could Epiphone PLEASE make a decent FIREBIRD?

Not a Studio model with full-sized Humbuckers, not something with a faded or worn finish...

I mean an honest-to-God Epi version of a Gibson Firebird V. Proper sunburst finish (or an opaque ebony or white as an alternative option), Banjo tuners (the ones you use on the current Studio are fine), mini-humbuckers, and, if a though-neck is cost prohibitive, then a set neck would suffice (no bolt-ons).

Epiphone does a great job of making Gibson models available to musicians like me who can't meet the Gibson price-tag. The Firebird is, I suspect, a much more popular model than some may think. I believe it deserves to be properly represented in the Epiphone line-up, as is currently the case with SGs, Les Pauls, ES-335 "Dots" etc, etc...

Thanks!

And if you're looking for inspiration, simply refer to the photo below...

So please, recalibrate some of the machinery at Qingdao and start cranking out the 'birds...

When I bought my Casino from the retail arm of the Epiphone distributor (Gallin's Melbourne) not only did I have a hard time finding one on display that didn't have obvious problems' date=' but I was given "nothing" with it, just the bare guitar. I even had to buy a gig bag to get it home safely! For $980 AUD would have expected better!

I won't go back there ever and it left a sour taste in my mouth about Epiphone unfortunately.

Digger[/quote']

Same with my G-400. Nothing that was on the list for a new Epiphone...which was kindof a downer because I had to carry my new guitar out of GC. That made it seem like I stole it if no one else was with me. =/

There was the sticker even though I wished that it came with everything else that it should like my Fender Stratocaster (minus the case, of course).

I still want my bumper sticker...

...but Dear Lord Epi-head... Please feel free to send it along with any or all of these!

PS: In the mid 70's I had a Gibson Grabber that I had moded with two Bill Lawrence JB PUPS & 3 way switching (sorta a mutant G3)... In hindsight, I think I will put that one down to a severe case of 'Stanley Clarke Wannabe Syndrome'

Geeze - what kind of entry is this ?? In the past 2 years I have 2 Epis , A Sheraton 2, ( a "2nd" too ) and one of the new Les Paul Special SC TV Yellow Limited Edition models . I love 'em , love 'em , love 'em ! It's sad you are not happy with your Epi's ... hopefully you will find nice models like I have. I think Epiphone is a God-send , really , as most quality instruments cost an arm and a leg....( thousands sometimes ) , but Epi is makeing great stuff for 1/3 the price ! Try to find one of those Les Paul Special SC models that just came out ( TV yellow and translucent cherry ) - they have P90's and are soooooo sweet ! Cheers !!!

  • 3 weeks later...

I wish I found this thread a week ago when I pick up a new Epi at Guitar Center.

I've bought a few guitars from them and never get the extra goodies. I don't really

need the wrenches or cord (I've got enough of these) The sticker and poster would

have been cool to have, but I know GC just opens the box, puts it on the stand and

pitches the rest.

FYI this was one of the first basses that I didn't have to do a set up at all to get it play

the way I like it, and I know Guitar Center didn't have anything to do with that. Nice work[biggrin]

Thanks for this post. I've purchased all of my Epiphones from the same guitar shop, since 1995. Only one of my guitars ever had any paperwork whatsoever and that was my first one back in 1995. I bought another in 2005, and another in 2008 and neither of them came with anything. I asked the owner of the store about it and he claimed that guitars don't come with paperwork anymore because of the internet (you can download everything now). Sounds like he lied to me :-( Would have loved the Epiphone bumper sticker...sounds like I missed out on some cool stuff.

  • 1 month later...

Hopefully I'm not too off-topic here but my 15 year old daughter has been playing for 15 months on a 3/4 size Ibanez and wants to upgrade to an Epi LP or G400. We do frequent Guitar Center and I have had generally good experiences with them but I would like to see her get everything Epiphone intended -- this may be a bigger deal to a kid than an adult. Anyway, any opinions about Sweetwater.com for new guitars? They claim to do a thorough check of the guitars they send out to customers.

There have been a lot of questions recently from our customers asking “what comes with a new Epiphone guitar?” Here’s a list of what should be included when you purchase a new Epiphone instrument. If you do not receive these items' date=' please ask your authorized Epiphone retailer about them.[/b']

1. User’s Manual – This covers all the basic information about the care and use of our guitars.

2. Warranty Information – This is included in with the User’s Manual. You can fill out the form and send it in to us by mail. But… it’s faster and easier to do it on-line HERE.

3. 10’ Economy Cord – This comes with all electric and acoustic/electric instruments.

4. Epiphone Bumper Sticker

5. Epiphone 2-Sided Poster

6. eSonic/eSonic-2 User’s Manual – This goes into details regarding the features, benefits and use of our preamp system that is used in most of our acoustic/electric guitars. This comes with only acoustic/electric guitars.

7. Truss Rod Adjustment Wrench – Remember… if you don’t know how to adjust your truss rod, don’t attempt it. You could do permanent damage to your instrument. If you think an adjustment is needed, take it to an authorized service center.

Additionally, some of our guitars are priced including hard case or gigbag. Here’s a quick list of our current price list models that include cases.

• Inspired by John Lennon Casino (‘1965” and “Revolution”): Hard Case

• SG-Express : Gigbag

• Emily the Strange G-310: Gigbag (and strap)

• Zakk Wylde ZV Custom: Hard Case

• LP-Express: Gigbag

• Les Paul “Tribute”: Hard Case

• All “Packs”: Gigbag

*Note: All hard cases include a locking latch with key.

I have been pretty happy with my new Studio Dot. But the cord is not a cord... it's an insult!

Do you really think they are going to give you $50 cables with a guitar?...or even $30 cables? They could rightly give you nothing but a guitar and a warranty card and still charge the same price. They are just "practice" cables. And that is exactly what I do with cheap cords...practice with them until they brake...then toss 'em. I save the Planet Waves for rehearsals and gigs.

I think the bigger point here is that some of these stores steal the extras and keep them for the employees. Cheap or not, if you buy a guitar that comes with swag, you are entitled to the swag.

I'd prefer they kept it. cheap cords cause some bizare disease.

i.e. unclean!

The only on-line guitar stores I'll deal with these days are Sweetwater and American Musical Supply. Both are equally good. I wouldn't read too much into the Sweetwater "check" - take it to mean that at least they have inspected the guitar, and won't send you something obviously damaged or deficient. The Strat I bought from them still needed a set-up from my local guitar store for it to play as well as it could... That's fine by me, they never said a complete set-up was included in their price. And the set-up still cost me less than the sales tax would have been, had I bought the guitar locally instead of on-line.

Agree with you re: the Epi tat. It might be useless to some of us, but I think to a kid the posters, bumper stickers etc are all part of the experience. And if you paid for them, then you should get them. When I bought a Casino from American Musical Supply, all was present and correct - just as it should be. Which made even this big kid smile...

They are just "practice" cables.

I use the "dinky" cords for my Korg Tuners. I keep a Korg CA-30 and

a "dinky" cord in the pocket of every git case I have. Just coil up cord,

put in case, that way, no matter which git I grab, I have a tuner and cord

ready to go... Of course, in every case I ALSO have picks, a CHAMIOS, a

small screwdriver, a 6" machinist's ruler, a spare set of strings, a strap...
