Figstrum
I'm sure a thread like this has been done. But' date=' I stopped by my local music store after work to get a set of strings for my Gib. SG and I use E.B.'s Super Slinky 9-42 and have been for over 25 years and low and behold they were out of them! Any, one of the guys behind the counter suggested the Hybrid Slinky's 9-46 and I'm glad I did! In fact I think I may have found a new favorite. I like the Super Slinky's because they have a nice crisp sound, but these Hybrid's have a nice rich full sound that seem to compliment my SG very well. I might even try them on my Epi. when the next string change is due. Anyway, enough stringing along LOL. So post your choice of strings. Shawn I prefer EB 10-46 Regular Slinkys in my SG instead of 9s. It is all personal choice, but it is nice to know that Im not the only one that noticed the heavier bottom strings giving the SG a nice tone. I'm prob set with 10s for the SG. I wont experiment with 11s on this guitar.

colchar
I tried Super Slinkys and then awitched to Regular Slinkys. I had wanted to try Rotosound Pure Nickels but couldn't find them in town so I put on a set of Rotosound Yellows this week. I found them too bright for my liking so last night I swapped them for a set of Ernie Ball Classic Rock Regular Slinkys (the Classic Rocks are EB's pure nickel strings). They seemed pretty good last night - good feel and tone - but I won't know more until I play them later today.
AnthemBassMan
-On my Fernandes LE-1 Strat, I use E.B. Classic Power Slinkys, 11-49s. My Samick Strat I have strung up with GHS Nickle Rockers, 11-50s. On my Epi Lester, which is still torn apart at the moment, I use either E.B. regular Slinkys, 10-46s, or Everly B52s, 10-46s. On my acoustic, I use Elixer Nanowebs, 12-53s. And on my Samick Stingray bass I use DR nickle Lowriders, 45-105s. My mandolin hasn't been restrung yet, but I would probably just go with Martin strings for that. Elias Graves
I try a lot of strings. My favorites include: Benedetto 11-50 Markley cold steel Ernie Ball titanium coated lasted way longer than anything else The Benedettos were the best find ever. The most profound change in sound I've heard from a string. EG
Bender 4 Life
I tried every string available (in my area) before '89 or so........... since then it's been Ernie Ball Regulars on all my electrics........I either get the "10 pack box" or when I run out my local Mom-n-Pop always sells his buy1-get1 free. i string all my acoustics with D'Addario .13s......phosphor bronze on my dreadnaught and super-jumbo........80/20s (brass) on my concert/auditorium. Argyle
Ernie Ball Super Slinkys on my SG and my Strat. I prefer them over any other brand/type of guitar strings. I just like the feel of the 9-42 on double cutaway guitars with low action.
Hungrycat
Guitar^ 4-string Bass 5-string Bass The Rotos can be hard to find from time to time. When I can't find them I usually sub in D'addarios.
sheraton03
I've been using D'Addario 10-46 on all my electric guitars for many years now. I find they last a long time and still sound decent and hold tuning for the duration. They don't cost as much as some brands either generally. mbrooks0711
Ernie Ball regular slinky's 10-46. Usually you can get a pack of 12 for $60 US so $5 a set, but sometimes musiciansfriend or guitarcenter will have the 12 set packs for $40. I just split a pack of 12 with a friend and have good strings for $3.50 a pack.
childofthefence
EB Power Slinkys (11-48) on electric Martin (Marquis?) The ones in the red box. (12-54) I learned to play on acoustic and got used to the higher string tension so anything less than .011s on my electric just feels too flimsy. Getting a little more sound out of the bigger strings is a nice bonus too. With a lighter gauge I tend to overbend like there's no tomorrow so 11s help keep that in check too. I tried several brands before sticking with the Power Slinkys and found that I wasn't a fan of the "brand new string" sound that sticks around longer with brands made to last forever. I'd much rather change strings more often than stick with tone I'm not in love with.

twodice
Rotosound Reds (11-48) on all my guitars exept the Riviera and Casino which have D'Addario EXL115 (11-49). However, I may change exclusively to D'Addario as they are only £2.70 on amazon plus free shipping! .
SlagJones
I have used 10-46 gauge strings in brands: D'addario EXL GHS Boomers Ernie Ball Slinky Dean Markley Nickel Steel Electric I kind of favor the GHS and Dean Markley but all are good strings IMO. I get whatever is on sale. I have never tried anything more expensive like Elixer or pure nickel type strings and considering my skill level I don't think the cost is justified. Actually considering my skill level the $1.99 Musician's Gear strings are probably what I should be buying.
jk441
I've used a D'Addario EXL110, Elixir Light and a Ernie Ball Regular Slinky. From those I personaly felt the Regular Slinky is the best so my Ultra II gets the Regular Slinky and the Special II gets the EXL
