HNVGD!!!

Recommended Posts

It's new, and it's vintage, and I'm happy.

Here's my 1966 Epiphone Casino E230T. It's an ice tea sunburst that's done more in the Gibson style than the traditional Casino style... but who cares? It's beautiful. Light as a feather. Great tones from the single P-90. And the neck is to die for!!!! Best shape on any guitar I've ever had - including 2 '66 ES-330's and a '62 ES-330.

I'm a total idiot at uploads, so I hope these work.

So now I have my '09 IBJL Casino, my '66 Casino, a '96 Riviera with minis, a '95 Sorrento, and a '95 Howard Roberts.

Plus a '62 ES-120 converted to a 125TD.

I think I'm done.

Right?

That is a screaming beauty. Tell us how the middle position sounds for the P-90, compared to neck/bridge most of us are used to.

How could you be done? Where's the acoustic(s)? The solidbody?

That's very nice. I do like that finish and, like many others, really wish Epiphone would offer it on current models. As much as I like vintage sunburst, it's nice to have an alternative.

]You can hope you are done-but I know they keep sneaking into my collection all too often!!

A single P-90 can do some amazing sounds-I have a 59 reissue melody Maker that has a monster tone~

The position of the single P-90 on the Casino gives it a really rich and wonderful mid-range, and it's very

different from just having both PU's on in the 2 PU models. You lose a little of the lowest tones that the neck PU would get and a little of the highest tones the bridge PU would get... but it finds some nice stuff in the middle: good jazz tones with Tone rolled down to 1-3; great r&b/funk sound from about 5-7; strong rock tones from 8 on up.

Just a comfortable guitar to play, too - feels right, is very light on the shoulder. Wish I was home playing it instead of working right now (first day back from vacation - always tough to adjust.)

And thanks to all for your kind words.
