Of the two Casino color choices which sells more?

If I had a guess I'd say with the new Inspired By Lennon ones, the Natural is probably a bigger seller. Overall, however, I'd say burst. Anyone know or could put forth a logical guess?

When I bought mine I ended up with burst as the "Blondies" they had there looked very plain and had almost no grain showing.....then they were Chinese and the one I got was Korean which was a point in it's favour at that time.

If I had to limit it to those two (for instance, if I were looking at an Elitist or Lennon), I'd get a Sunburst (as long as it's the Epiphone burst, rather than the Gibson tear-drop). The only exception is if I found a very nice natural.

Of course, I'd prefer the Elitist to come in Cherry like mine... if they can make the "1965" in Natural (which wasn't a finish option at all) then they can make one in Cherry (which wasn't an option until 1967).

I'd also guess the natural, if only for the Lennon connection. I have an Elitist Tobacco Burst on order with Sweetwater, expected ship date 9/10. I'd been "Jones'n" for a Casino and my rep ran some silly a$$ "make me an offer sale" a while back and I bit with the Elitist. Got a couple hundred off regular price so said ok. Besides, I really think that at some point down the line, Epi is gonna quit on this one as well. I'm normally not a big fan of tobacco burst, but for this icon I thought it only fitting; besides, my Dot is a Blondie (see avatar) so I guess a Burst won't hurt LOL

I'd go for Nat, because I'm not a fan of sunbursts on hollow guitars. On a strat or LP they are fine, but on a hollow body f-hole guitar they just don't do it for me. Of course, that's personal taste and for the record, it has nothing to do with John Lennon.

BTW, I agree with the newer Casinos not having nice wood grain.

Don't know which one sells more, but the natural would always be my preference, if it's an attractive piece of wood. Recently had a choice of two natural & one sunburst Elitist Casinos. Two had very boring top & back wood (they're cut from the same piece on Elitists). The third had very nice wood, and also the best tone. Luckily, it was one of the naturals! I'm also fortunate enough to own a natural finish Gibson 335. Same deal, it was thankfully the best player out of four 335s ABed at the time of purchase. Bottom line, if a sunburst or cherry guitar has better side-by-side playability, I'll buy it. But if the natural out performs the others, it's a win-win all around.

This should have been a poll....

This is my newest member of the family.

I debated about the IBJL Vintage Burst and went with Cherry instead. According to Epi's website, the construction is the same and made in the same factory. The only differences are the electronics and the case is included on the IBJL. These p/u's are fine and the switch is solid with no scratchy noise when flipping it. This one was flawless right out of the box. Even the jack is tight and hasn't loosened up like so many do. The volume and tone knobs work perfectly and transition very smoothly up and down. The tuners work great and do hold a tune very well. I tuned it up when I got it. Played it. Came back the next day and it was still in tune.

EPI's quality has improved over just the last 3 years alone. They offer a variety of instruments with differnt features and prices. You can't go wrong with any of them. It's just a matter of choosing which one is right for you.

Mmmmm.....who knows although I went with IB Sunburst as the Natural looks too aneamic (spelling?). This guitar is strong on the Beatles vibe as well as Keith Richards & Dave Davis and in their time they used Sunburst. Not sure if there were other finishes available, over here in UK at the time. And personally I'm not happy in using a guitar that is too conected with one particular musician, so the Sunburst fitted my personal requirements. After all it was the guitar I wanted, not which particular muso used it and IB happens to be a wonderful and characterful guitar.

Am I right thinking it was only years later after JL's untimely death that the Natural finish was available for the Epiphone Casino?

I originally had a plan to buy a natural Elitist after I had bought a 'regular' Korean (but it turned out be Chinese) burst.

However, I love my burst so much that I have so far been content to stick with it, and I'd even go so far as to say that if I had my druthers, I'd get Elitist versions of both the burst and the natural.

I find it interesting that most people who have posted above tend to associate the natural with JL, rather than the burst or the white incarnation of his Casino - I tend to think of all three when I think of him and the Casino.
