Lucille came home... to me...

Recommended Posts

I just bought a brand spanking new Epi Lucille.

She's great ! A fine lady. [blink]

I quite smoking a year ago at age 64, bought a

used Epiphone Les Paul Special-II and bought some

Hal Leonard Guitar Method Books 1, 2 & 3 and learned

to play and read the notes off of staff music paper.

I prefer blues & black gospel music.

Now, one year later... as a one year anniversary

present... a NEW Epiphone LUCILLE.

Yes, i have been off tobacco now for over

one full year and don't miss it at all, after

puffing away for 50 (fifty) years.

My amp is a little VOX PATHFINDER with

spring reverb... 15 watter.

I also use a little headphone amp: the VOX AC30

headphone amp. Works well with headphones.

I also still have the Special-II that i

learned on... it has sentimental value to me.

Plus, it is my backup guitar now.

I also have a Alvarez bottom-end acoustic,

model RD-8 which is about 7 years old

and sounds nice. I bought it used too.

Also, a Shure SM58S mike with boom stand.

Casio CTK-710 keyboard & stand.

A tiny 5 channel auido mixer.

Hohner Special-20 harmoanica (key of C).

and the usual misc stuff such as capo, boxes of

new extra strings, string winder, metronome

etc etc...

I am looking forward to being a member here.

I am new here.

Welcome !!! ... and congrats on kickin' the habit !!! And, congrats as well on the Lucille !!! [blink] My daughter's boyfriend has one, very nice guitar, indeed. Have played it, would love one, but .... marital unit would strongly disapprove, at this time...LOL (was hard enough to convince her why I "needed" a second electric - had an Epi LP, bought a BMG Sig...single coils, chambered, phase switching....totally different animal...wanted some tonal variety, which I have demonstrated, and she reluctantly agreed, so.... there's always hope[biggrin] Pics, man .... and keep on keepin' on "just sayin' no" to the cigs .... just a waste of time, money, and health.

Welcome Cheeks! Great guitar, you've just purchased. I quit smoking (and drinking) on the same night,

38 years ago, out in front of a local bar. Don't miss either one. Guess I don't have an "addictive" personality?

(Except, for guitars, that is... ;>) )

Here's my Lucille: Bought 9 years ago....but only photographed, finally, this past Spring.

Cheeks,

My brother was a Coast Guard pawn in Viet Nam and recently died from his exposure to Agent Orange. To think he joined the Coast Guard to avoid Nam. It was a pretty ugly 40 years.

As to Blues, I've always maintained that most Caucasions are Blues impaired ( I'm half Cherokee) .

Some Birmingham Blues greats came to see a Dieselfish show and in mid lead they started chanting white boy.. white boy..

Bass great Lissa LeGrande (mortifided) asked what did I do to offend these folks (as if).

One Blues guy said, pretty impressive for a white boy!

Fooled him.

Hey Charlie Brown...

I see the tuning machine handles or knobs on yours

differs from mine.

Yours shows a shoulder under the main tuning knob/handle.

Mine has no such shoulder under it.

Thought I'd just mention that.

Mine was made in April of 2010 I believe...

Here's a photo of my tuning machine knobs/handles...

LOL...Rich, Hardly! I did change the "keys/buttons" only...the machine heads, themselves, are "stock,"

for Grover "Imperial" buttons. It was strictly for my own preferences...and not because the stock versions

were "bad," or ugly, etc. I just like the way the "art deco" type stairstep keys look. Especially, on the large

headstock, typical of Lucille, ES-355's, and LP Customs. I put them on my AIUSA Sheraton (Below) too.

I think, they go well, with that more ornate headstock. But, maybe that's just me?

Actually, it's kinda nifty that one CAN change the keys/buttons. Neat.

Congrats on quitting smoking and the geetar. I have been working on quitting using those e-cigarettes. Would probably work better if I could remember to plug 'em in and charge 'em up.

The straight and natch'el blues? As a kid I took some lessons with Rev. Davis and ended up in Mississippi. They used to have a saying - The further you get from Mississippi the worser the blues gets.

^^^ I like that ! CoooL saying.

Now.... here's...

HOW TO QUIT SMOKING

I did this it and it worked.

I went on Chantix but that only lasted 6 weeks because i felt mean and

crazy after the 6th weak... like i was getting nasty. So i just stopped

using Chantix. I had Chantix pills left over... and i called Chantix and they

refunded the unused pill money... over $100. I honestly believe that Chantix

did in fact help me over the hump....

B U T . . .

Here's something else I did... for THREE WEEKS PRIOR (repeat: PRIOR)

to taking Chanitix.... I cut way down on smoking by simply

lighting a cigarette and TAKING ONLY ONE PUFF.... 1-PUFF !

Then cutting off the lit end with a pair of scissors.

Then later on... i craved another cigarette....

so i did the same thing over and over.... ONLY ONE DRAG

or PUFF then cut it off again.......

I did that for 3 solid weeks.... i was smoking around 2 or 3 cigarettes

a DAY doing that routine.

Then.... after the 3rd week of that.....

I started Chantix and NO MORE smoking.

Done' date=' kapoot, no more, finished.

I had no craving whatsoever after i quit Chantix after that

6th week.

Now, if you all do that.... you will probably quit OK also....

SO YOU CAN BUY MORE EPIPHONE GUITARS AND LIVE LONGER

AND HAVE MORE MONEY SO YOU CAN BUY MORE EPIPHONE

GUITARS !
