Humidity

It's been really hot and sweaty here in the UK over the last few days and the hygrometer in my guitar case ( with SJ200 inside) has been reading between 55% and 67% humidity. I know this isn't good but this weather may not last that much longer. I was wondering what the maximum length of time was that a guitar could stand extremes of humidity before damage occurs?

55% is fine. Above 65% can cause problems, but guitars handle high humidity much better than low. If it's above 65% for an extended period you can try putting the guitar in an air conditioned room, if you can. My kid goes to school in Edinburgh and at least over there they're not sure what air conditioning is. You can also get small packets of desicant, perhaps from a hardware store, but personally I wouldn't put these in the case of a beauty like your SJ200, and I would't worry overly much about periods of high humidity. It's very low humidity, and rapid extreme changes that do the worst. Good luck.
