joenoone Posted March 9, 2010 Share Posted March 9, 2010 There used to be a great link in the "External Links" section of the Wikipedia listing of Steinberger that discussed this, but the page is gone. Although the discussion was for the bass, the guitar is probably the same. The two options to improve the sound was (1) buy EMG active pickups to replace the existing ones, or (2) buy an EMG brand active EQ for your system (you can also do both). I did the second one on my spirit 5-string bass using an EMG-BTC System (here) that I got for around $50 or so from ebay and it was a VAST IMPROVEMENT.
