rxdoc_04
A used late model Gibson ES335 that I'm considering purchasing has on the interior orange label under "Model" the following combination of letters: "ESDP-ARD" Does anyone know what these letters specifically mean? I'm curious why it just doesn't say "ES335"?
Ken Rayba
Of course the ES stands for "Electric Spanish", and "D" I belive is for double cutaway, the "P" should desigate plain top, the rest I have no idea. Maybe you will get some more feedback on this. Hopefully I added some info for you. I have an ebony finished 05 ES 335 and my label looks like it says ESDT, which doesn't tell me anything. It was made in Memphis.
bobv
Is it antique red? My new 339 has "ARD" buried in the model number. Antique means the binding is yellowed. Red means it's not washed cherry, aged cherry, or vintage cherry, just red.
Col F
ES = Electric Spanish D = Dot (vs. Block Markers) P = Plain (Top) (vs. Figured Top) ARD = Antique Red Hope that helps.
