Now and then, TV gets it right...

Now and then, TV gets it right.

I'm watching a new episode (2010) covering "Black Sabbath" on the Biography Channel.

With the brief interview bits from various musicians, in addition to the band members themselves, it's pretty good.

The kicker - with the Brit accent, some of the folks are tough to understand for us Ammuricans.

Then they bring Ozzy up, and there are subtitles on the screen because he's indecipherable.

Lemmy Kilmister too!

[biggrin]

Of course, they also interviewed music critics who are caught for posterity uttering such nonsense as;

"Lighter strings give you a greater distance from the..."

And for Iommi's dark, menacing tone - "Reducing string tension lowered the pitch...."

Huh?

Why does ANYBODY listen to ANYTHING a f-ing music critic has to say?

Go back and read some of the old 70s reviews of albums by Sabbath, Led Zep, Deep Purple, Alice Cooper etc.

For the most part they get cut to shreds by the critics.

As David Lee Roth said once;

The reason music critics love Elvis Costello is because music critics all look like Elvis Costello.

We have many regional dialects to offer in the You Kay...somewhere like Birmingham UK ranges from Ozzy/Tony type through Carribean patois, Irish, Asian, Polish etc. As always, the best advice is to Speak Slowly and Loudly....
