Anyone know about a possible 50th anniv 1959 Les Paul standard next year?

I'm sure Gibson knows a lot of people will be GASing for one so they'll only make a few, and naturally the price will make us all cringe. Gibson knows how to stop GAS, so thank them when the price of this thing is about the same as your entire collection.

Isn't the R9 already pretty.....well...perfect?

What can they do to it?

As fas as I know' date=' with the 50th anniv. R8s, they gave them flame tops and a second pickguard with "50th anniv: on it.

With the R9s, Im guessing that they'll get the every so useful second pickguard, but more importantly, I'd say hand picked maple tops that resemble the originals. By that I mean not overly flamed and out of control. Sweet & subtle.

I'm wondering if it's gonna be plek'd.

If I'm not mistaken, every reissue Les Paul is pleked. So, yes, it would be too.

That's really awesome (not that I will be getting one) the reason I don't like heritage cherry is because they are so freakin' orange, it looks silly.

subtle is good.

You're correct. I saw one last week. Lauzon Music in Ottawa has one. Awesome flame top and Murphy aged. Going for just over $5000.
