LiamMurphy Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 Anyone know if there's gonna be a 50th anniv 1959 Les Paul Standard next year??
daveinspain Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 No, but you can bet they will make one.... Oh no I can feel the GAS pains already!!!
FreedomStain Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 I'm sure Gibson knows a lot of people will be GASing for one so they'll only make a few, and naturally the price will make us all cringe. Gibson knows how to stop GAS, so thank them when the price of this thing is about the same as your entire collection.
Tim Plains Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 Of course they are. $8,000 - $10,000 is my guess.
Gibson CS Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 Isn't the R9 already pretty.....well...perfect? What can they do to it?
surfpup Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 Oh, I don't know, maybe they could call it an Anniversary model and charge even more...
jnstrom Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 I think they are just calling it the 50 year anniversery not the r9.
Tim Plains Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 Isn't the R9 already pretty.....well...perfect?What can they do to it? As fas as I know' date=' with the 50th anniv. R8s, they gave them flame tops and a second pickguard with "50th anniv: on it. With the R9s, Im guessing that they'll get the every so useful second pickguard, but more importantly, I'd say hand picked maple tops that resemble the originals. By that I mean not overly flamed and out of control. Sweet & subtle. I'm wondering if it's gonna be plek'd. If I'm not mistaken, every reissue Les Paul is pleked. So, yes, it would be too.

That's really awesome (not that I will be getting one) the reason I don't like heritage cherry is because they are so freakin' orange, it looks silly. subtle is good.

Going for just over $5000.
Gibson CS Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 do yourselves a favor go for the heritege models, 59 reissues, aged, not totally correct, but a great balence of functionality, image and mojo
