It showed up late afternoon, right when I got home from work. I am now the proud owner of 2008 Les Paul Traditional and it's my first Gibson....EVER. It plays like a dream through my tube amps, the finish is perfect, the neck is awesome and the setup it "plek'd" right on. What a great guitar!!!!!

Beautiful! Could you please tell us what you feel the how noticable the PLEK difference is. Do you have other

LP's to compare it to?

By the way I am a huge RB fan. I saw him many years ago at Atlanta's Great Southeast Music Hall. I don't know if

the place is still around.

Again great looking guitar

Thanks.

Mark: unfortunetly I don't have any other LP's to compare it to, about the only thing I can say is, there is absolutely no fret buzz and the action is perfect (the way I like it to be anyway). The 57 HB's have a real bluzy tone, not as "bright" as the BB's (at least when I tested the LP'S that had the BB's).

I wish I could have seen Roy, I bet it was really cool to see him.

Thanks all around!!! I'm excited to join the forum as an LP owner.

I did a ton of research and I played as many as I could before making my decision on the Traditional. I really didn't want to order on line but with a 20% off coupon from MF & within my budget, I just couldn't resist. And I lucked out, it is fantastic. Although I was worried at first because it was not double boxed and the Gibson box was a little dinged up. So I went over it with a fine tooth comb, because I was ready to return it for another one if there were any issues.

i did the same thing a few months ago when they blew out gingerbrust Stds. it showed up in the gibson box; the box beat to hell. i am wary of MF. but i am glad you got a great guitar at a great price. Congratulations!

I guess at some point I'll have to remove the "plek'd" sticker from the pickup. The new smell is awesome too, I'm going to try to keep that as long as possible.

I typically use Ernie Ball strings (10-46) on my other guitars, should I use EB's on the LP or go with Gibson Vintage strings?

Mine didn't come with the pleked sticker, i wonder if AMS goes over them before they send them out, at least they double boxed it. I am thinking about putting the tophats and pointers on mine and changing to the blank trc like an r7. How do you like that neck? I love mine. the weight feels substantial even with the swiss cheese. like a solid body should. Good luck and Congrats... We Need an unofficial goldtop club!!

Buchanan,

beautiful guitar! I just picked up the exact same one 2 weeks ago - and like you I have yet to remove the Plek'd sticker haha.

The smell of a new guitar is the best so I'm right with you on that. When I take it out, I get my face right down close to the case, open it up, get a little new guitar smell "fix", take it out and close up the case as fast as possible - like you I like preserving the scent as long as I can.

I use EB's as well - have never been a fan of Gibson strings for either my electrics or my Gibson LG-1 (I use Martin's for my acoustic)

Great choice - enjoy!

Sweetwater goes over them. Damn near polished off the VOS sheen on my 57 Custom. Lucky for me, playing evened it out again.

The neck is really nice, very very playable for me. And the weight is good too, even with the swiss cheese, I agree with you.

Start the club - I'm in.

Thanks, that's cool. The gold tops are just very classy. I really like the EB's so I'm going to stick with those as well.

Sweet looking guitar! Just got my Ebony Traditional on Monday (and just posted pics)! LOVE it!

The store where my son takes lessons has a Goldtop just like yours - I play it while I am waiting for him - it is what pretty much what sold me on the LP! Tried the Classic 1st but thought it might be too hot.

Monday night I had a great time just keeping the wife company while she "did bills" and I played on my (unplugged) new axe!
