I need your input! I was going to make the top 50 list of Gibsons but it might take too long to collect the data.

Question What do you think is the top Gibson Guitars of all time???

1. Gibson LP #1

2. Original 59 Sunburst

3. 1957 Custom Black Beauty

4. 61 LP/SG

5. 59 LP Standard

6. 57 LP Custom

7. 61 LP

8. 58 Explorer

9. 58 flying V

10 58 ES-355

11 2008 R8

they are the point in which technology' date=' image, tone, and playabilty where @ their tops in the eyes of most guitarists

That's it?

What technology is different between the 58 and 59? or 57 and 59 for that matter?

No offense but I was hoping for something a little more than "well most guitarist think they are the best"

ive never played one, but after playing some vintage peices, and knowing that the only problem with the late 50s bursts where the tuners would break off , i can only imagine how nice they must sound, and play

Someone please explain to me what the big hype is about the 59 Les Paul. I'm not discrediting it in any way. I genuinely don't know.

Short version.

In the late 50s, LPs weren't selling. Gibson decided to redesign it. In 61 the redesigned LP came out...the now SG. Les Paul (the man) didn't like the new guitar and removed his name from it. Years later, guys like Clapton started playing them because they sounded great. There's something like 600 1959s in existence.

Thats cool, im not a professional musician and my equipment isnt great. In all honesty I doubt a R7 R8 R9 would sound much different than my BFG. I couldnt justify it even if it is a wish list.

My wish list (or future shopping list) right now is...

LP custom Classic with p90s GOTW

SG 67 with p90s GOTW

BFG bullion burst (already have and love it)

Yes I really dig p90s always have since I bought my first les paul Epi 56 Goldtop.

Lastly a LP standard or SG 61 RI

May grab up a junior or special single cut in there somewhere too.

I think this is a case of GAS. No?

if a std is on ur list, save a little for money and get a R8. i dont care what anyone says, they are better than USA Standards, regardless of the jackplate or tuners gibson puts on them.
