Gibson CS Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 I just nailed an Eddie Van Halen tone. All by myself, without looking anything up. I am SO much cooler than you. Even you AXE. I'm gonna go play Hot For Teacher. Wallow in my awesomeness
deepblue Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Eddies best sound was the first VH album...It was all down hill from there.
Gibson CS Posted August 7, 2008 Author Posted August 7, 2008 Eddies best sound was the first VH album...It was all down hill from there. VH2 was good as well, but your right not as good as the first one. It was his first sponsorship that killed him (jackson?) he couldn't use the frankenstrat anymore, he had to build a new one. It was all down hill from THERE.
saturn Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 VH2 has always been my favorite. People forget how dark some of VHs early songs were. They only think of the party songs.

Thundergod Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Go and try to nail Brian May's tone... then come back and show off ... (J/K!) (really guys... has any of you nailed his tone with a lester? I'd like to... so feel free to post your recomendations.) Good for you on the EVH tone Oilpit, got some tracks we can hear?

Or....is that what you meant? see I'm really not smart enough.
Gibson CS Posted August 8, 2008 Author Posted August 8, 2008 P.S. I also respect EVH too much to butcher his work with my sloppy teenage playing.

At least you already have the Vox AC30!
Thundergod Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Damn... GAS GAS GAS... I think I'm gonna explode. Hey Oilpit, yes... I meant something you could upload on youtube... sorry I talk about tracks all day...
Mash94 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 when I saw the title of this thread I was like "Damn, another Jesse thread!" haha. That's pretty cool oil!
Mash94 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 by the way, I saw this video on youtube of this guy doing an awesome "Hot for Teacher" cover.
NeoConMan Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I want to pull my hair out every time I hear "Jump" All you young 'uns don't know this' date=' but I was THERE. New Years, waiting to ring in 1984 at a big party. MTV was rattling on and on about the "New Van Halen album, we have an exclusive first track and video TONITE!" This is gonna be WAY different than anything you EVER heard from Van Halen. All us rockers are thinking "Yeah, right, whatever, Eddie's already done it all....." Then the video starts out with that cheesy keyboard "What the...?' and were waiting for the song to actually begin. It WAS the song!! Jump. Might as well jump. [b']WHAT THE FxCK ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT?[/b] That, sadly, was the beginning of the end for rock music, rock videos and rock guitar gods. ZZ Top went synth with Eliminator just before that, I thought they would be the last band to fall into that trap. Nope, EVH became a keyboard god. A couple years later Def Leppard came out with Hysteria, and rock radio was saturated with all this sugary sh!t. Twenty years later, where are we now? I STILL hate that sh!t. Buy a keyboard and see if you can nail Eddie's Jump tone....
Tim Plains Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I never got into VH. Deepblue, I was at LA Music yesterday and they have an EVH signature guitar on the wall. IT SOLD!! Somebody actually paid for it. $18,000 list price.
