ChanMan Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Cool LS... good that you are getting in some playtime before school starts back. Glad to know everything is going ok .... Figure out the riff from "On the Hunt"....
Tim Plains Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Cool LS... good that you are getting in some playtime before school starts back. Before school starts? Geez! I wish I had summers off. My future wife's a teacher and does nothing all summer long. So, during the summer she does her little non-employed thing everday and by the time I get home from work, she's bored and wants to do stuff...go out...whatever. Many a time have I said "get a job, ya bum!:

So' date=' during the summer she does her little non-employed thing everday and by the time I get home from work, she's bored and wants to do stuff...go out...whatever. Many a time have I said "get a job, ya bum!: [/quote'] Don't know how she manages that! Most of the good ones spend copious (unpaid) summer hours reading new material, taking courses to update/add to certifications, creating/revising curriculum, etc. Not being critical, just amazed. Admittedly I have a but more time for Les Pauls now, but I have been "working" in some capacity all summer long. I must learn how to do this "do nothing all summer". Maybe there is a course in that I can take! Then again perhaps she teaches elementary grades? I hear that's easier to prepare for. BTW if you were a teacher and had summers off, you wouldn't have that R9 - trust me on that one!
Tim Plains Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 surfpup, I didn't say I wanted to be a teacher...I just want summers off. Yeah, she teaches elementary 1-8; music, history & French and also substitutes. The material she teaches doesn't really change. The school does pay for most of any courses that teachers want to take, but she didn't want to take any this summer. It's a private school, $15,000 tuition...crazy! The poorer kid get picked up-dropped off in a BMW It's located one town over, and I used to work for that town. Let me tell you, drop off/pick up times are quite the spectacle every day. I saw one kid get picked up in a Murcielago, seen a few Ferarris there, one time I saw three Maserati Quattroportes all lined up in a row. Like I said...the poor kids have BMWs.
surfpup Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 I guess I am definitely teaching in the wrong neighborhood!
NeoConMan Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Hmmm.... My wife teaches 1st grade in the Phoenix inner-city hood. Most of the kids are walking with their folks - who don't speak English. The greatest spectacle is checking out all the tats on the parents. She teaches summer school and tutors as well, so she doesn't get bored.
