SG Special going out of tune

Anyone have any ideas of how to get my Epiphone SG Special to stay in tune? If I do any string bends, it almost certainly goes out of tune. What is the replacement most likely to fix this problem? Thank you for you help!

First thing I'd check is the nut .See if its binding in the slots.

Ditto.

I agree with G Randy, 90% of the time the nut is the culprit.

Take it to somebody who knows what they're doing and get them to file it out - or replace it with a better one.

It's not expensive.

Are you using bigger than normal strings?

Even tens will hang up in the slots.

A good friend of mine is a huge Lennon fan, old enough to remember the Beatles.

He and I argue this all the time....

Try some graphite on the slots in the nut. If that doesn't cure it' date=' you may need to replace the tuners.

Good luck...[/quote']

Tuners are rarely the issue with holding tune. The problem is very likely the strings hanging in the nut. Either graphite, filing the slots or replacement will fix the problem. Get a setup done by a pro and they will take care of it for a reasonable fee.
