Cooperoni Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I saw a LP Studio for sale today. The sign said it was from the Custom Shop. I didn't ask the salesman about it cuz it was definitely a case of GAS, my funds are low, and I don't want to sell my Explorer (perhaps the SG GOW #10) I wasn't aware they made those, and didn't have much luck finding info on line. Any one here own one of these that could enlighten me?
FennRx Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 news to me. though i did once see a "Gibson" that appeared to be a studio with an odd finish- one that was kinda 3d like James Hetfield's plated ESP Explorer. that guy claimed it was a one-off from the CS.
Fixr1984 Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 84-85 Gibson made the Studio Custom it was basically a studio but with ebony fretboard, dot inlays, gold hardware and multi-ply binding. This is really the only info I could find myself. " Studio Custom During the early 80's Gibson decided to release a custom shop line. The guitar followed the original specs of the studio but with upgraded wood and materials. Today these guitars are rare and sought for by collectors." Heres a pic of my 85 Studio Custom. Is this similar to what you were looking at?
Cooperoni Posted August 9, 2008 Author Posted August 9, 2008 Hmm, I don't recall the gold hardware or binding (It was waaayyy up high) and it was a darker color, perhaps Vintage Sunburst. Crap now I have to go look at it again and have another GAS attack!
