Jinder Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 ...Okay, it's not mine, but my band's support act for our current tour has just bought herself a brand new Legend L00...she played a Tanglewood previously, but I lent her my Hummingbird for her show a few nights ago and she was, understandably, wooed by the Gibson experience, and the next day we all went down to Glasgow town centre (we're touring Scotland at the moment), found the local Gibson dealer and played through the entire stock-the two guitars that leapt out at me were an AMAZING Sheryl Crow, and the Legend L00-both utterly stunning. She found the Crow a bit chunky, but went with the L00 and had an AER mic blend p/up installed, and the thing is a rampant tone monster! The upside is I get to hear the great guitar (and excellent player, Lotte Mullan-www.myspace.com/lottemullan) every night, but the downside is that I now have severe guitar envy! Having said that, as beautiful an instrument as it is, being a 6'6" 17st guy, I look rather like I'm having a fist-fight with a twiglet whilst playing such a small guitar
jefleppard Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 OMG, she's gorgeous and the guitar ain't bad, either!
Rambler Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 "being a 6'6" 17st guy, I look rather like I'm having a fist-fight with a twiglet whilst playing such a small guitar" Jinder-- if you even happen to be in the market for L00-sih tone in a more suitable box, you might look into Gibbys Original Jumbo reissue. Nice dry punchy sound. JK
Taylor Player Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 OMG' date=' she's gorgeous and the guitar ain't bad, either![/quote'] +1 on that Cunk!!!
jannusguy Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 i think she owes a nod to rickie lee jones on the intro to "record collection". thought she was about to cover "chuckie's in love" there.
Gilliangirl Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 She's got a great voice and I really liked her songs, especially Billy. I've bookmarked her site so I can go back and hear it again!
Jinder Posted August 14, 2008 Author Posted August 14, 2008 Lotte's brilliant...most other support acts I've had over the years I've grown tired of their songs after the 5th or 6th show, but even after ten live shows in a row, I found myself really looking forward to hearing her play and made a point of being there to hear her set before we went on. We did some writing together during the downtime of this tour too, real smooth but filthy bluesy soul, like Chris Whitley jamming with Norah Jones. When the world wakes up, she's going to be huge.
xxx Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 i think she owes a nod to rickie lee jones on the intro to "record collection". thought she was about to cover "chuckie's in love" there. I think thats the point of her song. She going thru her record collection and reflecting on their influences.
jannusguy Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 I think thats the point of her song. She going thru her record collection and reflecting on their influences. a ha! you're probably correct. i should've paid closer attention to the lyric.
onewilyfool Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 Jinder, your post reminds me of a Mae West film and funny one liner: May West sees this tall guy and asks him how tall he is....He replies " 6 feet six inches" So Mae West says, (primping her hair) Let's forget about the six feet, and concentrate on the six inches!" ....lol but I digress...here is my real question: Why is it when we hear Irish, English, and Scottish pop singers, we never hear any accent????? Although Lotte is a good singer, she sounds american to me......Why is this?????
