Thundergod Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Hey guys... I just found this... they look kind of gibson-ish... which I like a lot, what got my attention is the pickups tho... take a look. http://www.voxvirage.com/index.html Any of you think one of those would be a good adition to a lester+vox rig?
littlekenny Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 They look pretty cool. Any Idea of how much they'll cost?
Thundergod Posted August 9, 2008 Author Posted August 9, 2008 No... didnt look to see if they are already selling them... but they look like a good option for a semihollow lester shaped-sized guitar... and the pickups got me really interested, single coil-p90-humbucker souond? I'll have to see to believe.
Thundergod Posted August 9, 2008 Author Posted August 9, 2008 Hey man... I just bought a vox pedal, the bulldog distortion and it gets along wonderfully with the ac30 and les paul... Im in heaven. I m starting to become a vox adict...
cudamax2343 Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Those are look to be real nice. The pickups are interesting and the pickup mode switch sounds kool, maybe a pre-amp or boost.
led floyd9 Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Thunder. We all know you're actually still GASsing over the Brian May Signiature. Hehe..... if that Vox is cheaper than $800, get it. But if it's more than $800, get the Brian May Signiature. The Brian May Signiature is only $800!
Thundergod Posted August 9, 2008 Author Posted August 9, 2008 I know man... that B.M. sig I gotta get! Do you happen to know where it's made? (the VOXes probably are made in china but I would still get one if they costed less than $700).
led floyd9 Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 I know man... that B.M. sig I gotta get! Do you happen to know where it's made? (the VOXes probably are made in china but I would still get one if they costed less than $700). Sadly, no, I don't know where it's made, but I'll look it up tonight.
led floyd9 Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Sadly' date=' no, I don't know where it's made, but I'll look it up tonight.[/quote'] I just found the website. Apparently, they're made in the U.K. For more information, go here.
Thundergod Posted August 9, 2008 Author Posted August 9, 2008 Damn... so they are built to brians specs, and in a country where labor is actually paid ... that is a very good price for those guitars. I think i see one of those in my future (and the ones vox makes too).
littlekenny Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Thunder, have you seen the Brian May signature AC30?
Thundergod Posted August 9, 2008 Author Posted August 9, 2008 YEs man... just one control! (the perfect amp if you ask me)... but you would be surprised to know he recorded some of his legendary stuff with a stereo hi fi system... (have you ever noticed how if you connect your guitar to one of those they get this fat distorted tone?) Very cool amp... I would get one if they werent so damn expensive... for now I gotta make do with the "normal" AC30 cc2x I got...
cudamax2343 Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Yo Thunder. Got 4 or 5 Geeee's lay-in around that you can blow. Check out this sweet 1985 Guild Brain May Signature Guitar in Good old Hollywood Sunny California, way back when Build quality was excellent with the Guild's. It's rummered that some young rich putz cashed this one out on a street sale at guitarcenter, he needed cash quick.http://used.guitarcenter.com/usedgear/details.cfm?listid=103038048 It's real sweet
GuitarJunkie Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 They look pretty cool. Any Idea of how much they'll cost? There was a review on these new Vox models in a recent issue of Guitar Player (the one with Slash on the cover). The Virage models are made in Japan and the price is $3500 list/$2500 street.
NeoConMan Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 ThunderGod, thanks a million for posting that link! The Virage models are made in Japan and the price is $3500 list/$2500 street. I'll take a Japanese guitar over ANYTHING built in Korea, China, Indonesia, or anywhere else in the Pacific Rim. First rate stuff. For example, look at the few Fender models made there, Gretsch (main line, not Electromatic) and Zemaitis. I watched the video on the carving of the body and wondered myself where that would be done. Says Honduran Mahogany and American Swamp Ash are used. Love the way the body mates to the carved top, still alot of mass in the top to resist feedback and honk. The neck heel is unique, still looks very strong for a double cut-away. I'll be waiting to get my hands on one. $2,500 sounds reasonable to me.
Thundergod Posted August 11, 2008 Author Posted August 11, 2008 When you get one, please make us a review so we can know if its worth it hehehe... I am really GASsing for one... but luckyly my GAS problem can be easily controled: Here I cant get my hands on one of those... shipping handling insurance and most importantly taxes would make it like 5000 bucks just to get her and probably find out the f-ckers at customs emptied the box.
