Gibson CS 52
Gibson Announces the Revolutionary Firebird X Michael Wright|10.28.2010 This morning in New York City, Gibson Chairman and CEO Henry Juszkiewicz made an announcement that staggered the music world. Juszkiewicz unveiled Gibsons latest guitar, Firebird X. But press, fans and celebrities in attendance quickly learned that Firebird X was much, much more than any guitar ever conceived. Speaking to an audience that included such guitar luminaries as Ace Frehley, The Roots Kirk Douglas, Eddie Ojeda and Jay Jay French from Twisted Sister, Lou Pallo, Russ Paul and others, Juszkiewicz described an instrument light years ahead of anything ever built. This is new. This is different. This is revolution, he declared before unveiling the axe. Nobody looks and spends the time to reinvent the guitar. This is a new guitar. The Firebird X guitar takes the guitar instrument to new heights of functionality and usability for the professional player and the aspiring enthusiast. Using technologies that did not exist even a few years ago, Gibson has enhanced an already outstanding instrument to unbelievable performance and creative heights. The enhancements touch every aspect of the instrument from improved manufacturing technologies to the latest electronics. To drive this point home, Juszkiewicz grabbed a traditional guitar and smashed it to pieces. Afterward, the crowd buzzed over the announcement. And already, video of the occasion has leaked onto the Internet. Silenced Fred 2
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I love the smoke at the beginning. Also, are those seriously cinder blocks they propped the guitar up on? Is this a joke? It looks like a failed talent show attempt in high school...
Tim Plains 237
I'm sure you, Gibson, knows that everybody hates this new guitar but I'm actually surprised to see you gave it its own sub-forum. This forum will be filled with nothing but hate for this amazing looking guitar.
Riverside 138
Where are the circuits and other electronic components made? Do they manufacture them in Nashville?
Tman5293 100
Where are the circuits and other electronic components made? Do they manufacture them in Nashville? Why should a guitar even have circuit boards? It shouldn't.
Riverside 138
Why should a guitar even have circuit boards? It shouldn't. But it seems that this one does. Do they build the robotic components in Nashville, or import them from somewhere? Anyone know? Could it be that a whole bunch of what makes this thing what it is might be manufactured overseas somewhere?

You got that right.........because no one has this "guitar" yet and I would like to hear it put through it's parameters, and hear comments from owners. There is no reason for this section yet and will only be filled with negative comments at 10 to one positive.

Agreed. I thought it was a joke. But I was not laughing. So it was a bad joke. A joke of very very bad taste.
Thundergod 205
Is this a joke? It looks like a failed talent show attempt in high school... It's them trying the customer, if the loyal customer bends over and buys this thing then they'll probably know for sure the customer will gladly accept their guitars to be made in china and at US price. Mark my words. It will happen. With all the hype I was expecting something with at least a little relevance. Not a holy/reverse whatever. "revolution" yeah right... I think they'd done better if they just up and released a new slash signature that was a "new" standard, without slash's signature and tried to sell it at custom shop price. This is a f_ckin' joke man. That's what it is, and of very bad taste. Guys at gibson need to get off drugs and booze. Only then they'll start making things right. I for one am selling one of my gibbies. I no longer feel like supporting a brand that cares nothing for their customer.

Stig 1
I can't blame a company for wanting to try new things, but does every stupid, ugly, self-indulgent idea your design department has have to actually go to market? And with an outrageous price tag? Really, that is the single most offensive thing since the reverse Flying V. And the Zoot Suit SG. And the RD series. And... you get the idea. I think that I've turned the corner, and I now officially hate Gibson. I'm keeping my Goldtop and my Casino, but no more business for you.
tbonesullivan 1
"staggered" the music world? Yeah... it made them stagger alright. Just like they did with the Jimi Hendrix tribute stuff from Gibson, Baldwin, etc.
Gibsonfreak909 1
I agree, I've been using Gibson for 17 years. Recently switched to another manufacturer due to these things. Hetfield was a customer, he wanted a non-pickguard Explorer, didn't happen. He went to ESP and made them huge (thank god). Lots of people want thinner necks, different pickups and bridges, why not offer those variations instead of this crap? I/We the customers (except vintage purists) have been asking for stuff like that for years and all we hear are the customers don't want change... so what do you do? Venture into fragile expensive tinker toys and fugly body shapes and tell us this is the future and we are (90% or more) wrong? Fender has awesome prices and I think they'll finally end you with this, alongside ESP and PRS and Heritage and Hamer and Schecter and all the other companies making guitars for good prices, high quality and listen to our needs... I'm buying something else from now on until I see prices come down or see some user friendly guitars with different necks, pickups etc...
happydog 3
But it seems that this one does. Do they build the robotic components in Nashville, or import them from somewhere? Anyone know? Could it be that a whole bunch of what makes this thing what it is might be manufactured overseas somewhere? What do you think? Let me put it this way: there are no mass-market American electronic companies manufacturing in the US. There are high-end audio and video items, and military electronics being made in the US, but in far fewer numbers than the overseas electronics. So it's quite likely that a good chunk of the innards of the Firebird X are as Chinese as any Fernandes, ESP-LTD, or Squier. Given that Gibson already has a relationship with China through Epiphone, I believe that it's almost a certainty that the guts are probably Chinese in origin and manufacture. I could be wrong but I would be surprised if I wasn't. However, if the electronics are American-made, that would account for the exorbitantly high price.

The Firebird X is pretty much Gibson's way of sticking their middle finger up to all of the features you mentioned that dedicated customers have pleaded and begged for. What a way to treat your customers Gibson. You are not getting one more red cent from me. See what happens when you smash an American icon like the SG? Backlash - that's what you get and what you deserve.

freak show 73
I'm curious as to whether Gibson got the name "Firebird X" from the Alesis XGuitar? http://www.alesis.com/xguitar That one seems to have had built-in effects as well.
upaya kaushalaya 0
Ohh, I love this model very, very, very much, I would like to have it becaouse I love multi-instruments, I liked Moog guitar but this beast eat them all. I hope I will win it in contest.
joeydego 2
Dear Gibson. I purchased 8 of your Les Paul guitars because Gibson Les Pauls are hands down the best guitars in the world, period. I insist you stop devaluing my collection by releasing instruments bearing the same brand that look like they have fetal alcohol syndrome.
Thundergod 205
I think we'll have to see how well it sells when it's on the street... then we can say whatever we want (tho I already did ). But anyway... now that the heat is down, I think we should all just agree to let it be. If it doesn't sell well enough Gibson will probably just cut production out and forget about it. You guys gotta understand Robots, Dark Fires, and Dusk Tigers did sell and some people really like 'em (I like my robot). Some people didn't like them and just didn't buy any. Time will tell.
