I would immediately get rid of the EMG's, but I think this is a really cool guitar for the money.

It's a PRS torero and new they are $1000 so I bet you can find one used for around $700 and it has a real floyd on it.

For something like this I love Seymour Duncan, but I think some good Dimarzios would set this guitar off.

Look guys! It appears as though he has come here in search of slash tone!

For that price range, your looking at the Chinese junk category. The only Gibson's you can buy with that kind of money are faded SG's faded Les Paul Studios, or a Melody Maker. So you may want to take a hike down to the Epiphone forum.

Find an old "funky" off-brand guitar like a Harmony or Silvertone and modify it for your needs. It will sound like you want it to and will have a real cool look.

Or one of those Les Paul vintage mahogany models - decent player for around $800. Don't think they are made anymore, but should be plenty around still.

They are expensive as hell now!

I really like the SG Faded line, not too bad on price. That, or a Gretsch G5122, also, a Fender Classic Player Jazzmaster

If your looking for a hollow body the Epiphone Inspired By Lennon Casino's a pretty sweet guitar for under a grand.

or maybe a Fender American Standard Telecaster for around the same price
