Kevylot Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 which low to mid range marshall amp sounds best with an LP
Bradmeister Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I don't know about low range, but I was in a vintage store recently, and I heard someone running a Les Paul through a JCM 800 head and a full stack. Damn, it sounded sweet as hell! It was even a Norlin-era Paul. That's gotta be one of the best sounding guitar/amp combos of all time! -Brad
FennRx Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 i assume that by low-mid range you are referring to price... as long as its all tube you're ok. if space was no issue i would buy SLP 100w head and 1960 cab, the heads can had on ebay for around $1k. in my opionion, the best marshall sound is an over driven plexi. people like jimmy page and eddie van halen used them for a reason.
tonebias Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I have a little Marshall 401 DSL 1x12 that works pretty good but the speaker sucks. I put in a Weber blue dog and changed the tubes to get the tone I wanted. But it is small and not too expensive. Once it's cranked it really starts to sound good!
