renin74 Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 i will be there dude. LOve your website by the way, very interesting. refreshing to read some non-PC stuff for a change.....
surfpup Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 We want pics of you guys terrorizing the Les Paul selection!
ChanMan Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Can I get a rain check for the next time I'm in Phoenix?
NeoConMan Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 website' date=' very interesting refreshing non-PC stuff for a change[/quote'] Hah! Thanks. Yeah, it's still a work in progress. I have tons of stuff on my computer and in emails that I put up as I get time. "Politically Correct" is the stupidest concept if you think about it. If it's not really correct, why would you subscribe to it? In the interest of politics? How effective is that? When people figure out YOU don't believe it yourself, you're exposed as a fake, and your political career is over. We want pics of you guys terrorizing the Les Paul selection! You mean' date=' THIS one?[/b'] This is the same aisle, opposite side. Pretty handy. They get a Les Paul down, hand it to you and ask "What would you like to plug in to?" Um, that one. No, THAT one! Wait, what's this one? Well, I dunno.....
renin74 Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 i can't wait to go there again, I am like a kid in a candy store, I have played that PRS we talked about and it is smoking. ALso keep thinking about the naturalburst sg. Wanna try a les paul thru a vox and perhaps thru the jcm 800 and see what the hype is about./....
NeoConMan Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 JCM 800? They aren't gonna let you crank it THAT loud to really find out what the hype is.... :-) I dunno, you might get lucky and catch Mike or Bob in a jamming mood. If there are no other customers in the store.... If all else fails, you can swing by the NeoCon Compound and plug a Les Paul into mine. I rarely use it, and when I do my ears ring for a couple days. Good therapy.
renin74 Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 i figure if I ever get one of those powerbrakes, i may be able to get a half stack, but right now it isn't practical for me, doens't mean i don't want one. I also like the peavey 6505 heads as well. There is too much damn gear I want and everytime i get something, I think i am done, for about a week and then i want something else. DAmn GAS!....
renin74 Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 **** neoconman, i just went to your website and noticed you have a JCM 800! can you get an overdrive sound out of that amp with one channel? I am assuming you have to crank it up pretty loud. I might have to make a trip to your compound one of these days. I assume you don't have too many people living around you that you can crank it up! BY the way, love the pictures of your gear. For some reason, I never get tired of heritage cherry sgs either!
NeoConMan Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 Yeah, I have a JCM 800. It's in the avatar pic. Bought it from Bob at Bizarre, one of his personal pieces. < ------- Oh yeah, I can get an overdrive sound out of that amp. Mine is the 2203, so it's only one channel. 2205 and 2210 were two channel versions. You don't HAVE to crank it up pretty loud, but I always do. Take a trip to the compound one of these days. I don't have too many people living around here, I can crank it up pretty much whenever I want. Even the wife doesn't mind! I usually get fatigued and tired of it pretty quick, so she knows the punishment will be brief. I need to add more pictures of my gear, make it more detailed and comprehensive. That was just a quickie thing when I first posted those. Primarily for insurance. I never get tired of ANYTHING in Heritage Cherry, certainly not an SG.
renin74 Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 is the 2203 the most common type available? all the guitarists i like from the 80s i believe use the jcm800 and i love their sound, i think EVH did. I just want the one channel version, I will check next week at bizarre to see if they have one, I think the head is a bit on the expensive side though, oh well, more gear!
NeoConMan Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 Yeah, $$$$ They quit building them in 1986, started reissues a couple years ago. Nearly $2k for the head. Back in the day there was 2203 - 100 watt 2204 - 50 watt 2205 - 50 watt/2 channel (the one I want) 2210 - 100 watt/2 channel There were various JCM 800 combo amps, 1x12 and 2x12. Same amp, just stuck in a combo cabinet. You can drive a 4x12 with them too, but that little secret got out and the prices are pretty high on them too. Beware the mods if you get a used head. Many were hot-rodded to increase gain back in the eighties and nineties. Improper use of a power brake could do substantial damage to them as well. Bizarre has a couple used heads that are pretty cool, one JMP belongs to Stu.
ckledzepplin Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 http://forums.gibson.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=6021 ^ everything you need to know about 800's and neo it is 2210 no 2200 and they didn't stop making them in 86 it was 90'
Silverbursted Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Damn, no way I can make it. We are in a power push to get to Colorado before the snows come. 12,000 feet MSL, it won't be too much longer. Have to try again in September. There were various JCM 800 combo amps, 1x12 and 2x12 Whoa, I did not know that they came in combo's. Hmmm[-o<
NeoConMan Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 Fixed it CK. Simple typo. I know a few players that have 'em. Thanks! You sure it wasn't 86?
retrosurfer1959 Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Man wednesday the 20th will be tough I have a whole day meeting planned I believe, I'll check the calendar tomorrow I was in a bad mood and left my Blackberry at the office I was tired of people yapping at me so came home plugged in the new Warren Haynes LP and cranked it then checked the forum. dang the two forum thing is tough lots of posts to follow. Even if I can't make it next week though maybe next time or maybe some time when it cools off we should hit the desert and snap a few primers. No Glocks but all kinds of Colts and interesting toys from my misspent youth.
NeoConMan Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 This is what they call a win-win situation.... :-)
ckledzepplin Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Fixed it CK. Simple typo.I know a few players that have 'em. Thanks! You sure it wasn't 86? yeah i'm sure 86' is when they 2203/2204 heads switched to horizontal inputs and it is also when marshall fixed the channell bleed on the 2210/2205
