How do you get the "brown note" from an EB3 and what

is it? I am guessing neck pup only with tone knob on

"0" and it sounds like "BBBBWWWWWW". All mud?

All wrong approach. You gotta have some

midtones in there to give it big resonance,

and some bridge PU to give it growl. How

much of each element is 'personal taste',

which is really a rather disgusting thought,

if you know the derivation of "brown note".

Hint: "Brown" is not about brown dirt mud.

Now, if you've figgered out the derivation

you know why growl and resonance are

important to effective brown notes. BTW,

a bass that can accomplish this will have

a few brown notes, not just one. But one

or two will tend to be the 'most effective'.

If you meant "which note" .... I can tell you

they're not usually the very lowest. Go for

it just a bit above the lowest. Work on your

EQ and PU balance. You'll find it, or more

likely .... IT will find you.

Sometimes you don't realize it cuz you're

too close to your speakers. An effective

wave may need enuf distance to form up.
