tepidy Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Does anyone have and methods of yellowing or aging the white layers of the les paul pickguard (b/w/b/w/:-k to match the aging of the binding. A the custom relics from gibson look great although the pickguards always look brand new. Thanks
RichCI Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 I don't know how you could do it but my Custom's binding has aged while the pickguard has not so my feeling is that aging the white layers in the pickguard unnaturally would look... unnatural. I hear ya though, the white in the pickguard does scream a bit after the binding yellows a bit.
jonst0n Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Put lemon juice on it everynight. That worked for me.
Bluemoon Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Put lemon juice on it everynight. That worked for me. I am sure it did. Why don't you post a picture of your yellowed pick guard. And Tepidy, ignore anything this guy says. He is our resident moron.
Tim Plains Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 I wonder if you the hot/cold treatment would have any affect?
NeoConMan Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Put it outside in the sun for a few weeks, or leave it on the guitar for 40 years. I dunno.
ChanMan Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Try soaking it, or just the edges, in strong black coffee or strong tea. Should age it nicely for you, and if done correctly yiou can even layer the effect.
tepidy Posted August 17, 2008 Author Posted August 17, 2008 No doubt Bluemoon haven't had much interaction with him and already Im thinking the same thing. maybe Ill try the coffee method.
AXE® Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 ignore anything this guy says. He is our resident moron. Nuh Uhh datz my job , Duh huh duh huh ... (someone) makes a vinyl dye that may work but it would be kind of hit and miss ...
