JohnLennonWontBeForgotten
Hell yes! In Mid-January I'm ordering a guitar that I would rather get over the most expensive Les Paul in the world. The John Lennon inspired Epiphone Casino!! Still can't decide which one I want though...Do I want the original 1965 Casino when Lennon first bought it with it's amazing sunburst finish? Or do I want the very unique Revolution Casino? It's one of the hardest choices for me right now!! It's like choosing which parent you love more! Impossible. Well next up is a 1959 Hofner violin bass, then the Rickenbacker!
JohnLennonWontBeForgotten
Also on another note. 30 years ago today The music really died. To the greatest musician who has ever lived. Rest In Peace John Lennon.

brianh
Just saw the piece about John's last interview with NBC, paraphrased here: http://www.washingto...0120800777.html As for the guitar, that's a hard choice. I think all things being equal, I'd get an Elitist Casino. (See this thread.) It may not be as accurate as a 1965 repro, but it's a better built guitar than the IBJLs and I think John would be pleased to know you didn't buy into a signature model. However, the IBJL is a nice guit, and better outfitted for the price than the standards.

charlie brown
OR...if this isn't going to be an "impulse" purchase, that you'll tire of, in a few months...save, and get the USA versions! The Elitist's, would be next. The IBJL models are great guitars, though, for the price...$750+, if you shop around. Cheers, and good luck! JohnLennonWontBeForgotten
I'm not looking for the better guitar..I'm just looking at an affordable work of art. 1k to me already for the John Lennon inspired is a lot (only 14) don't have a job job...I love the guitar because hey it's JOHN LENNON! My favorite musician, I don't need the expensive guitar I just want something I love. But on the other hand...when I do fork out cash like that I would find myself John's 70th birthday limited edition casino's...now that I could wait on because that'd be worth it...no idea how much they are though. I would recommend that you read this book before you plunk down your hard-earned cash for a JL signature: I only mention it because John was a rabid non-conformist and I thnk he would have chaffed at the thought of folks paying extra for a guitar with a decal of his signature on it. Also, you might broaden your options to include one of these:

You're only 14 years old? I say go for it. It will probably inspire you to practice all the more. I didn't start playing until I was 16 (in 1979) and my first guitar was a total piece of crap compared to the IBJL. Enjoy it!
Supersonic
Not sure John would be to fond of a guitar called "Elitist" either.
JohnLennonWontBeForgotten
I find it more of a collectors item of something I love. I agree John would not be fond of it at all, considering who he was, he'd probably spit on the guitar. I'm just buying it for eye candy, playing it is just the bonus :D

They're made in China and they crank out literally hundreds of them a day. If you want one that has the potential of being a collectors' item, get an Elitist or a "USA Made" model. The fact that they're better guitars is just a bonus.
cookieman15061
Here's some advice. Get the guitar that you want. I would have sold my younger sister if I could have got a IBJL casino when I was 14. If you were a professional musician I'd say go with the Elitist but since you are still learning go with what ya can afford and be inspired by. Then practice, practice, practice. PS. Nobody here has a clue how he would feel about these guitars. John's life was full of contradictions and he said more than once that things he said should be taken with a grain of salt. JohnLennonWontBeForgotten
ALso Briahn I don't think I need to read anymore books on John Lennon :P I've seen absolutely every documentary, movie, read articles, and am just finishing a 700 page book called The Lives Of John Lennon. I know what I need to know. Doesn't change my view on him and my view on the guitar itself.
