nitro finish question

I have recently read that some rubber foam padding used on guitar stands is not kind to the Nitro finish. I have a LPJ on the way and the current stand I have has this soft spongey rubber padding, should I buy another stand (they aren't expensive)of just cover the padding with something? All comments appreciated,

Yeah........just cover the spots where the stand contacts the guitar with some kind of cotton cloth.

Some of the other forum members have made permanent covers, but a clean washcloth or polishing cloth will work fine.

I think some folks have recomended white cotton/ cotton terry cloth.

 

I have an A frame stand and used an old pillow case.
