retrorod
Theres plenty of interest in old things...in my opinion. What do you want to do...talk about em or buy or sell em? If you are looking for banter about ol stuff....there ain,t much happening on the vintage Gibson section of this forum. All the action is in the Lounge ,Acoustics and Les Paul sections....Rod
JimR56
I agree with Rod. I'm not sure what you're looking for by posting these videos. Yes, those are cool steels that you've posted. They're not common in fine condition, but I wouldn't say they're terribly rare, either. Most of us have seen them in person at guitar shows and such. There are hundreds (thousands?) of photos online, in books, etc, which offer about the same thing your videos offer. So I'm not sure what we're supposed to say, except... "yeah, cool". Do you play? How about a video of that? B)
prewargibsons
G'day, thanks for the reply Jim & Rod. I am a collector and a novice player. I posted the vids to generate some interest and to help people that might want to see matched sets and details of lap steels in mint condition. As you say there are plenty of pictures and details in books and on-line but not many close-ups etc. for reference. I buy all the time and rarely sell and maybe some like minded people will get in touch via the forum or the Tube. Lap Steels and Vintage guitars in general are very rare in Australia and there are virtually no Guitars Shows here. I put the vids. in the Vintage Forum because they are "Vintage" Sorry if that's a problem. Cheers
retrorod
No problem with that at all. You done good! Perhaps, if you had prefaced your vid with this information, others will know of your intent and interest. I think JimR and I didn,t know what to do with it. I did not even realize that they were in your collection. Also, just saying that this part of the forum IS correct for vintage steels, but for whatever reason, does not seem to get a lot of 'foot traffic'. I wish it did, but after 3 years of browsing, it just ain,t so. Nice collection and Welcome to the Gibson Forum Rod
JimR56
As you say there are plenty of pictures and details in books and on-line but not many close-ups etc. for reference. Not true at all. I frequently see these on ebay and on dealer sites with detailed photos. There's an EH-150 amp on ebay right now, in fact, which shows very detailed photos, and that's just off the top of my head and after a quick search. At any rate, by all means keep posting. It would be far more interesting, in my opinion, if you would add something in writing... factual information about your specific instruments, questions you may have, etc etc. Even better would be a video of you playing, so we can see and hear them in action. adius
Is the Charlie Christian pu notched? Some were, some not. I have one that is but the guitar is no where near the condition of yours. That set is stunningly original.
