ATXbonehead Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Hey anyone know where I can get a list of Model No. codes? Not serial numbers but the codes like LPFP5n or ?I cannot seem to find them anywhere. Thanks in advance for any help. Faron:-k Quote
RichCI Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 I don't think Gibson uses model numbers, just names. What you're probably seeing are stock codes used by specific retailers. Quote
ATXbonehead Posted August 18, 2008 Author Posted August 18, 2008 Actually every guitar gets a model No. Look on the pre-pack list when you get a Gibson guitar. Both the serial and model number are listed with the inspectors name. ALWAYS keep these, collectors like myself generally require them. Quote
Aaresz Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Gibson uses model numbers, though I do not know of a location were you could get a list of what they are. For example my LP Standard 60's neck in Heritage Cherry sunburst is model LP6THSNHI. Quote
ALIEN8 Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Try Long & Mcquade in canada, they have a website with contacts on it, and they may be able to help... Otherwise try to get Customer service's attention... Quote
crossroadsnyc Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 I wonder how long until Chinese counterfeiters start including fake slips w/those numbers along w/their guitars. Sorry, even if I knew I wouldn't tell you - no need to give our friends in the far east any more information than they already have. If it's available, I'm sure Gibson customer service could give it to you. Quote
ATXbonehead Posted August 18, 2008 Author Posted August 18, 2008 Hummm thats pretty scary. Lets see LPTDP HS, now the Chinese know the model number for a Gibson Les Paul Plus in Heritage Cherry Sunburst. Or maybe a LPR9VO ITNH the model number to a RI 59 LP Standard VOS in Ice Tea. Now I expect the Chinese to flood the market with these guitars. No, these are simple numbers even stated at Musicians Friend or American Musical Supply and even Guitar Center web site. Just curious if anyone had the complete listing. This is how important these model numbers are. I purchased a Les Paul for 1400 bucks from someone. It turned out that the guitar was a custom, Custom Shop Guitar Les Paul Florentine. All this info was on the model number with the serial number contained on the checklist. The problem was the guy had no idea how to read the tag. And trust me, I sold that guitar for much much more than 1400 bucks. Quote
turtle Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 im not sure on the model numbers thing but for your fyi when i bought my last lp classic antique they gave me the wrong case for it> which was fine because i like the black inside instead of the white> i realized this when i got home so i called gibson about the card that had another les paul seriel # and they said " the reciept is all you need to have from your purchase obviously from an authorized dealer > i told them the dealer and they said this was fine> Quote
NeoConMan Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 black inside instead of the white White is to protect the paint from discoloration. Quote
Mark.Prindle Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Can I get this model number decoded please. LPCSBGNH1 I have been told that this is a Custom Shop guitar, and then Ive been told that it is not. I did not get that build sheet when I bought the guitar, but I understand that is typical. But I did get the pre-pack checklist with this model number and the serial number on the paperwork. I appreciate any help, this is my first legit Gibson and I really want to know what I have. The friend I bought this from has passed away recently and I really want to know the nuts and bolts of this beautiful instrument. I have had acquired many guitars in the past, but this one is the most comfortable, sustain for infinity, beautiful sounding instrument I have had the privilege to play. Thank you for your help.
