Is this a Gibson or Epiphone Les Paul?

Every once in a while, I'll post a picture from a guitar on eBay and you guys say whether it's a Gibby or Epi.

Guessing Gibson or Epiphone...it's a 50/50 shot.

You need to give reasons as well.

I say Epiphone not Gibson because of:

1 - the very dark writing on the pickup selector switch ring

2 - the sharp bevel on the pick guard

Bridge gives it away. It looks like an ABR-1 bridge but the bridge posts have slots in the top which is used to raise/lower the bridge. This is why I pick Epi.

Another weird looking part is the selector switch. Looks like it is sticks up alot as you can see what appears to be threads.

It's got me a little cornfused. =P~

If that's an Epi, that is one sweet looking one nontheless. But something tells me it's a modded Epi.

Hardware and knobs look pretty Gibsonized. Body I'm not sure about though. Good stumper.

Though I'm Gibson rookie compared to others on this site, I'm going to have to agree with the Epi trend. Specifically? OK, Epiphone Standard Plus Honey Burst. No? Almost looks Ice Tea in that lighting but I don't recall Epi having an Ice Tea version.

As mentioned above, the pickguard and pup selector give it away to me. Damn nice looking Epi though . . .

Yup Epiphone. along with what others have posted, the top doesnt look like real flamed maple (inconsistancies, variences in the flame etc.) it kind of looks too perfect if that makes any sense.

This is fun!!! It's an Epi because:

#1 - you wouldn't put a Gibson up here and ask us to decide (You might now)

#2 - Pickup Selector ring writing color

#3 - Bridge would have to be an old Gibby or a new Epi

#4 - Frets to neck binding

#5 - I feel lucky!

It's a very nice top on it though.......

First thing I noticed is the thick bevel on the pickguard.

The writing on the selector doesn't look right, and there's something wierd about how high the retaining nut comes up around the switch.

There are no blood testers under the knobs.

The jackplate is pretty thick so it's definitely not an R-anything.

And the dead giveaway, as others have already noticed, is the import bridge with the slot-head posts. It's neither an ABR-1 nor a Nashville.

Given the two choices, it would have to be an Epi. Gotta say, though, looks like a sweet fit and finish.

Epi.. and Chinese. The top is well matched with a nice flame. They do that on the chinaman's guitars to make them more marketable.

Epi is a guess based on reading this thread... and you said I had to give a reason O:)
