zerobox94
I really have started to fall for the early Oasis tone. Anyone here play the early Oasis stuff like Roll With It, Slide Away, Live Forever, Shakermaker, etc.? (You get the idea) I have a Casino with a tiny 15 watt amp Here's an example of the tone I want: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ei6YQchGZg
cunningham26
Ask and ye shall receive. http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/article/2472-the-complete-noel-gallagher-oasis-gear-guide.html good luck and rock on
Supersonic
Yep, cunningham's link is one, if not the best, resources for Noel's sound on the web. I wish he would come out with a solo album already. His brother Liam's new band is absolutely horrible. It's quite obvious who the one with talent in Oasis was. bonzoboy
To get the true Oasis tone you need a Casino,an AC 15 or 30 and you need to beat the face off your brother every chance you get in order to really get the proper vibe.

Actually, they rarely used Casinos. However you are totally correct about the beating up your brother thing, it just makes your guitar sound better for some reason. I heard during their blow out, against what most of the press said, noel actually took hold of an acoustic liam was playing and tossed it across the room. liam then pushed noel's entire guitar rack off the stage. the press said liam smashed the adidas logo j200, which would be really awful. it's a sad thing that great guitars have to suffer at the hands of sibling squabbling

I wonder if it even went out of tune? Pretty cool that he came back out and played the rest of the show with a broken rib after that.

I think he's playing it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4H0lVwVzCa4 Whenever I'm plugged in to a smaller amp with no pedals or anything and go for the Oasis tone I dial in this and get pretty close with my Casino. Gain- 5.5 Volume- 10 Treble- 7 Middle- 5.5 Bass- 4.5 The only problem is that you have to crank the amp and the guitar to get the "wall of noise" that was characteristic of Definitely Maybe, so feedback can be a problem. IIRC just said "noels beloved gibson", which narrows it down to probably about 75 possible noel guitars edit: just saw this http://www.feelnumb.com/?p=1533 i wouldnt doubt that noel just got a clone of the original if it was indeed smashed. Supersonic
I'm pretty sure he has lots of different J-200s anyway (lucky SOB). I remember watching the show he did with Gem for Teenage Cancer Trust and it seemed like his guitar tech brought him out a different J-200 for like every other song. Now that I'm thinking about it, actually I believe I read somewhere that Noel stomped on one of Liam's Gibson acoustics (I think J45?) when they had that fight that broke up the band. Apparently his wife had given it too him so he was even more pissed. I don't think anyone really knows what happened except them and maybe some crew members, but I'm sure some dude will write a book about it someday to make a buck and all will be revealed. Blofeld
I can get reasonable Oasis tones from my Casino (standard '09) through my Vox Pathfinder 10. These are the settings that get me a Shakermaker/ Roll With It kind of tone; OD on, Gain about 1/3 up. Treble; full. Bass; just under halfway. switch in middle position; both tones to 10. Slide Away sounds to my ears like the tone could be rolled back a bit. I hope that might work for you.
