tepidy Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Why in the hell would gibson make a reverse Flying V. Is it just me. It is without a doubt the ugliest most repulsive guitar I have ever laid eyes on. Talk about ruining a perfect rock icon.
NeoConMan Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 $$$$ They sold enough to get them known. Future collectible. Gets people talking. Who are they talking about? Gibson. Cast as wide a net as possible to reel in as many different tastes as possible.
Thundergod Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Yes it is horrible... maybe they asked Zakk Wylde too design a guitar for them and thats the best he could do... (seeing as it is way better than the ugliest of all: the ZW V-SG hybrid).
Tim Plains Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 I don't like them either, but I'd take one over a Telecaster. (couldn't resist) Speaking of reverse. Gibson should make 1,000 or so left handed Customs, string them as a righty and sell them as Hendrix signatures...$9,000.

Thundergod Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Tomorrow when I go to the store... I'll check out some strats just for you Tim... but I gotta tell you, strats just dont do anything to me...

slimjimdom Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 I'm sure they would if they could get the rights to put his signature on it in some ridiculous place.
Thundergod Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 MAybe they would have his signature on the fretboard... and then the epi version with hendrix's face everywere (kind of a "bob marley epi meets squier kitty meets daisy rock" thing, of course designed by gibson and zakk wylde)
Bluesburst Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 OK, I'll buy into this one... I own oa Reverse V (original batch) and I love it. I have a 2000 LP classic with SD Alnico II's and a wiring loom from the original Jimmy Page LP's from 96 I was able to get as a spare part, anyway, it's a great guitar and won't part with it BUT, the Reverse V was a HUGE surprise. I bought it as a collextible / fun guitar but got a lot more than I bargained for. FORS: Very light Very resonant and articulate for lead and chord work Surprisingly good for seated paying, the neck sits at a semi classical positioning AGAINSTS: Strap pin on the top horn makes it a shi#&&er for standing up, it wants to flatten out on you Upper register a little awkward. Large hands could really be in trouble Remember, the "experts" disliked the original V and Explorer (even the LP!!!), I don't know if it's a modern classic or future collectible, but it's a fine guitar (yes an aquired taste no doubt) and a keeper. A friend of mine who LOVES LP's and SG's hates the look of my Reverse V but loves it's feel and tone. He says it remind him of his old SG (which he regrets selling) in tone. I would like a black "re-issue" Reverse V if I can so I can put a strap pin in the heel to balance it so I can have one to sit and stand with. Absolutely, the style is an aquired taste, but going from my own experience and others who've played it, disliked the styling but loved the tone and feel, I think it's a "sleeper". Just my 2c worth PS, I would really like to hear one of these with P90's...
NeoConMan Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 We had 50 years to learn to like the V. The reverse is gonna need some time, in addition to being a ******-looking contrived design. The V has incredible upper fret access and is an easy guitar to play, hangs fine on a strap. Give me the 58 V anyday.
FennRx Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 i'll pass on both...especially since this is the Les Paul section, not the "Other" section :D :D

X1000 Reverse Flying V ugh' date=' I think my gas is gone, cause having to hear about that particular guitar just made me shart myself.

It's pretty bad, but it cant hold a candle to this abomination http://cgi.ebay.com/Gibson-Les-Paul-With-Gecko-Finish_W0QQitemZ260276735222QQihZ016QQcategoryZ38086QQtcZphotoQQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
ChanMan Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 From what I have heard, the folks that have them love them. I say to each his own. I'd never buy one. Heck, I'd never play one. I have a rule... if you never play an ugly guitar, you'll never OWN an ugly guitar. Works for women too. HEY! A reverse V woman????
ChanMan Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 I love green and I love a curly styled top' date=' but I just do not like them together, dam is that a factory finish...... ewwwww[/quote'] Yes sir. Gecko Burst is the name, I believe. Liking green, as you do, you might want to take a gander at Jomo's guitars... he has a gorgeous green Lester, I believe.
Les Paul Fanatic Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 Reverse Flying V :-& =P~ :-& [-X #-o :-s
