Recommended Posts

I have a 1985 Gibson Explorer that I was looking for some info on

SN 81915596 With a Custom Shop Edition emblem on the back of the headstock.

Any insight into the rarity, value, and any other notable info is greatly appreciated.

Here are some pics

according to guitardaterproject.org :

Your guitar was made at the

Nashville Plant, TN, USA

July 10th, 1985

Production Number: 96

hope this helps [biggrin]

It does. I am also curious about the Roland G-303 unit inside of it. I had read on some blog that it was a Pat Metheny guitar and that only 25 were made. Not sure if any of that is true, and was hoping someone here might know.

Just a note, I purchased this in 1988 when I was 14. I remember asking about the Roland unit, as I had no idea what it was for. Neither did the salesman
